View Full Version : Button over video for Matrix R1 problem

Hi

Has anyone tried to exactly duplicate The Matrix R1 ? (THE_MATRIX_16X9LB_N_AMERICA).
I ripped the DVD by VOBID, and successfully created the layout and 99 cells in the Scenarist. I followed SeyToN's guide to create the dummy white rabbits and real ones as buttons and everything looks fine. (I even compiled the project to check if I get any error regarding the buttons, but none :)).
Now I want to add the commands but it seems that R1 version of Matrix is completely different from R2 because I can't see 9 Post commands in VTS_02_0.IFO.

Also following Influenza's guide for Snatch and Stuart Little II, I couldn't find any GPreg value setting/checking. In VIDEO_TS.IFO all I can see in VMGM_PGCI_UT is a simple jump command :

PGC_Menu_10:
000000f4 1.Pre Command (JumpTT) Jump to Title: 27

and that's it. (Title 27 is the first scene which shows bullet time fighting of Trinity kicking cops' asses).

Does this mean I can not re-create the buttons in Scenarist ?
:scared:

Any help is appreciated.
Thanks

Ofcourse you can create the buttons in scenarist. If I had the ifos and some info on what title the extras are in I could be of some more help.........maybe by mail (influenza@influenza.speedlinq.nl)

The Region1 Matrix DVD is the same as region2. Well the commands anyway. If you don't believe me, rip out just the subtitles from the DVD (so you should have a file called VTS02_PGC06_01.VOB) and load that .VOB into MenuEdit. You can then see what the commands are for the buttons. And to go on record, you don't need to rip the Matrix by VOBID cause I've made a full functional copy (with keeping only the White Rabbit Extras, other extras had to go).
Goodluck

You must have ended up with a very big titleset if you did all those repeated vobids just by PGC?

I didn't reauthor or rip the DVD by VOBID... didn't have to. The only titles that have the main movie are 1 and 6. Every other title was either useless or a dupe. And there is only one version of the film on the disc.

Ooooh, you just kept what would fit on the disc and reauthored nothing?

GM006,

I am afraid they are not exactly the same. Based on information that SeYtoN has provided in his guide for The Matrix R2, we should have 11 PGCs in VTS01, but I have 9. On the other hand, SeYtoN says that there are 9 bmp files for each white rabitt sub but I've got 8. There are some other differences in VTS02 as well. Like, white rabitt sub in R1 is 0x22 not 0x25.

I read in SeYtoN's guide that there is no need to rip The Matrix by VOBID. But I wanted to experience with seamless branching at first place and also to try re-authoring a DVD by VOB-ID in Scenarist. On the other hand I wanted an identical copy of the original :D

So I am waiting for Influenza to check the IFOs for me and give his opinion on how to recreate the buttons, Thanks Influenza :)

@Influenza: I reauthored the movie with the White Rabbit Features. I stripped off the other features (Red Pill, etc). When I said title, I meant VTS02-Title1, Title2, etc. So I didn't reauthor "nothing".

@hrg27: I wasn't aware that you wanted to try the seamless branching stuff. And my other post said the COMMANDS are the same. Open VTS02 IFO in IFOEdit, click on VTS_PGC_ITI, Then VTS_PGC_06. Scroll down and you'll find the commands for the White Rabbit in the Post Command section, just like SeYtoN said. That's all I meant by they were the same. Have Fun. :D

I must say GM006 is right. The commands are the same. If you look at PGC6. SO you really should have 9 white rabbit subs and commands. The rest can be done following SeYtons guide.

Thanks for the help, guys

It seems that SubRip is not giving me all the white rabitt bmp files. As I said, I have only 8 bmp files for white rabitt and their corresponding time points.

Is there any other software to rip the subtitles from VOBs ?

Thanks

Of course I want something to let me do the sub ripping by VOB-IDs

In DVDDecrypter, select PGC06 then goto stream processing. Use direct stream copy for the subtitles and unselect all the other tracks (video and all audio). But leave all the subtitle tracks intact. Open the IFO in SubRip and select the Rabbit Track (I don't know what stream # is). On my disc, for some reason, every 2-3 seconds is a new White Rabbit sub. Why this is, I don't know. Hopefully it doesn't do that to you. You can also set DVDDecrypter to split it on VOB-ID, but I'm not sure I'd recommend it...
Goodluck.

Use vobsub then

OK, here is the problem:
1- Does having 9 pre-commands mean that I have to have 9 white rabott bmp files ? (Becuase I have 8 bmp from SubRip output)

2- VobSub gives me idx file:
# English
id: en, index: 0
# Decomment next line to activate alternative name in DirectVobSub / Windows Media Player 6.x
# alt: English
# Vob/Cell ID: 5, 2 (PTS: 192857)
timestamp: 00:00:20:070, filepos: 000000000

# (Not detected)
id: ÿÿ, index: 1
# Decomment next line to activate alternative name in DirectVobSub / Windows Media Player 6.x
# alt: (Not detected)
# Vob/Cell ID: 5, 2 (PTS: 192857)
timestamp: 00:00:20:070, filepos: 000000800

# (Not detected)
id: ÿÿ, index: 2
# Decomment next line to activate alternative name in DirectVobSub / Windows Media Player 6.x
# alt: (Not detected)
# Vob/Cell ID: 5, 1 (PTS: 182847)
timestamp: 00:00:00:917, filepos: 000001000
timestamp: 00:00:01:918, filepos: 000001800
timestamp: 00:00:02:919, filepos: 000002000
timestamp: 00:00:03:920, filepos: 000002800
timestamp: 00:00:04:921, filepos: 000003000
timestamp: 00:00:05:922, filepos: 000003800
timestamp: 00:00:06:923, filepos: 000004000
timestamp: 00:00:07:924, filepos: 000004800

in which index 2 is the white rabitt (index 0 and 1 are the only sub for VOB05 which is "shit").

I use vsconv.exe to get the bmp files as:
vsconv.exe -f "scenarist" -id 22 -i "VTS05-rabitt-0x23.idx" -o "vts05-rabitt.scc"

But no bmp output and error message from vsconv

The White Rabbit picture lasts 8 seconds long everytime it appears in the movie. Instead of having one picture last 8 seconds, the original author used 8 1sec pictures of the Rabbit. Which is why you have 8 pictures. Notice the time stamps on these pictures, their start time directly after the previous one finishes.;) Use the method I described above to rip out ALL 72 Rabbit Pictures (9 times the rabbit appears and 8 pictures for 8 seconds, so 9x8 = 72). You can later keep only the first picture in each series, delete the other 7 and stretch out the first one so it'll last 8 seconds, which is what I did. :D

PS - It's the POST commands that the Rabbit Button looks at, not PRE commands ;)

That's a great idea.

Is it ok that bmp file from SubRip has a red background.
I am asking this because when I used VobSub for other DVDs they had a complete blue background ?

Thanks

Yeah, just make sure you have color 3 at 0% when you rip them and set the coversion rule to 0% or set it so it doesn't convert red.
