Hi
I have two Karaoke DVDs with 15 songs each and I like to join them to one DVD-R.
I have tried two methods:
a) First ripped the DVDs with DVDShrink (no compression). Used vobedit to demux the .wav and .m2v files and then used DVDMaestro to author the whole thing.
b) First ripped the VOBs with DVDDecrypter and continued as above.
And finally I used DVDShrink to make it fit to one DVD-R.
I don’t know if this is the easies way to do this but anyway I suppose both methods should work, right ? But if I first use DVDShrink, DVDMaestro rejects about 10 % of the .wav and .m2v files! Same happened earlier with some cartoons, too. The second method works just fine.
Does anyone know why the first method does not work ? I am using the latest versions of all of the programs. The first method is better if you like to set different compression rates to each songs (or cartoons).

Hello topsare. :)
You can "join" two or more DVDs with DVD Shrink v3.0 beta 5,
without the need to use another software. ;)

Use this link first if you're not too familiar with v3.0 beta:

"But if I first use DVDShrink, DVDMaestro rejects about 10 % of the .wav and .m2v files!"
If you use the "Start/End" feature, some of the audio headers
might get corrupted. It's a known DVD Shrink issue. :(

Hi gnipooldd
Thanks for your reply. I wasn't aware of that excellent feature of DVDShrink that you can take some part of data from other source and some from other. Neat :)
But that doesn't help me with my problem as I want to make new menus for the whole thing and if I combine the data with DVDShrink that is not possible, or is it ?
So, I have to do the combining with method b. It just would have been so cool I you could have been able to set different compression levels at the ripping phase.
But anyway I love DVDShrink and this was just a minor minus in such a great tool :D

You can fix the audio by demuxing with VOBEDIT and running through AC3Fix. Afterwards the seperate streams should be accepted by your authoring program. In certain cases the time stamp may need fixing too. Thats done by running the VOB or MPG through TMPmepgs cut/join feature and leaving the full length - it writes a new file.

OK, thanks maa. I will try AC3Fix if I encounter the problem again.

I don't know if this would work but rip each song individually with DVDShrink then use DVDLab to make a new disc
you can drop complete VOB's directly into DVDLab and then create a menu and link to each song
it's a simple program to use :D
there is a 30 day trial available so you have nothing to lose in trying

Hi MackemX and thanks for the tip !
I have to admit that I am impressed. So far I have only used DVDMaestro as a full authoring tool and at first DVDlab looked the very same. But it is just much more flexible :)
Joining two Karaoke DVD's is very easy and the ability to drop complete vobs is a feature I really love.
My problem is solved :D

topsare, I tried DVDLab and agreed it is so cool and so flexible. However, I lost the audio after importing and compiling the Karaoke VOB files. I did check the VOB files with Power DVD and they are file. Any help please
