How do I find out which version of XviD I have installed in my computer?
And what version of XviD was used to encode a specific clip (if possible)?

Sorry, I am pretty sure this question has been asked, but I had no luck searching for answers.

If you select the XviD codec within virtualdub, don't hit the configure-button, but the "about" button right next to it. Then you'll see which codec version you have installed.

It is hard to find out which XviD version was used within an already encoded stream - it has a bitstream number which could help you finding that out, but I don't know a program to spit that version out (yet).

Ah, thanks.

I was trying to see if I was using the latest 0.9.2 version

Oh it says Version 2.1, 11:08:02, Feb 24 2003

Probably it is not 0.9.2 then since that was released fairly recently like a month or so ago. Probably it is this build, also a stable build IFAIK http://umaniac.leffe.dnsalias.com/stable/ but it is 0.9.1. If it were one of Koepi's I think it would say so. Of course I can't be sure that it is this one but probably it is, especially if it doesn't have any asp features like b-frames, gmc, qpel. I don't think anyone has built the 0.9.2 yet it doesn't have anything new just some bugfixes. If you like I'm sure someone might be nice enough to build it for you.

well, I figure since XviD is a work in progress, newer versions should be better (bug fixes, faster, etc). But I guess a 0.0.1 difference doesn't matter so much. I was running umanic's, I checked out Koepi's and Nic's, it looks like Nic's had the newest ones, so I just installed that.
