A Question About DivX Quality Settings

At the moment I use Dr Div X to encode my Div X video, with the following settings:
2 Pass
Bit Rate - 1630
Preprocessing - light
Pschovisual Enhancement - Light
MP3 - 160 Kbps 44.10 KHz
Deinterlace Settings - Progressive Output
Bitrate Modulation - 0.00

I Have 55 Minutes Of Home Captured DV Footage, And I was wondering what was the highest quality settings I could get to fit on a cd?
Please enlighten me, should I change any settings?
Or are they fine as they are?

DivX, not Div X :p

MP3@160 is quite big, you can try vorbis @ 80kbps. YOu'll get about the same quality and save half the bitrate. Also, make sure you use DivX 5.1 or use XviD instead. I won't try to convert you to RV9 :)

Its a codec like MP3... You can find it in Doom9's download section !

[PS: Is 80kbps not a bit to low ? Think 128kbps is more common...;)]

okay, 55minutes of DV is ~12gb of data. You want to reduce this to a 700mb CD-R.

1) Reduce the resolution to 512x384 ish (I do to save room.)
2) 160kps is high, go with 128. (Note with Dr Divx you cannot use a different audio codec (1.02). You are forced to use the built-in one unless you mux outside of Dr Divx.)

3) Are all scenes necessary? Trim out the redundant scenes and save room.

Would you reccomend to use a different program to encode DivX 5.1?

Right now, Dr Divx is based on 5.05, not 5.1. So you will need to use vdub(mod) or other tools to do your encoding.

I use vdubmod for my 5.1 encodes.
