hy,
does anyone know of a a time-shift-capable software-video-player that supports dv? my idea is to capture analog video from the vcr with my dv-camcorder and to save the stream on the hd and watch it while it is written .

writing and reading a 3.5mb/sec stream at the same time cant be impossible?

Moved to DV forum, where you'll have a larger DV aware audience for your question.

Is it possible with your camcorder to watch the video through video out while transferring to the PC? If not, you could at least watch the film on your computer monitor while capturing. The preview might not support 16:9 mode, though. And the audio may appear to be out-of-synch. But I'd say it's worth a try.

no i cant send the captured vide back through the cam.. what i meant is: watching it on the pc (tv-out) whilst capturing, (like you wrote).
i dont have the cam at the moment, so i cant try just watching it while saving, but doesnt that cause a "cant create filter"-error with zoomplayer, at least when i try to watch mpeg´s while they are written to disk it does so. i have to copy them before beeing able to watch them. i thought of a program like dvio with a read-while-write-function.

Watching the video through the PC's TV out should be no problem. All you need is a DV capture program with preview. E.g. the capture program included in Ulead MediaStudio Pro has a preview, which I can see on the TV (through PC TV out), too.

sorry that my english is so misleadingly bad..

yes, i can do that-i use studio8- but what i would like to do is to watch the video that is currently captured, from another position than the one that is currently written- e.g. from a position 10 minutes earlier!
