1) Do I REALLY need it to complete a full backup? Is there a lesser program I could get away w/ to wrap it up?
2)Whats the difference between Scenarist NT & Scenarist 2.6?

1) It's a matter of preference...I do movie only backups (no menu or extras, except commentary tracks, and subs) using DVDMaestro. Some people here consider that butchering, although one could say that backing up puff-piece promotional "making of" drivel extras has the side-effect of butching the main movie, because it reduces the average bitrate.
I don't agree with that position (it's narrow-minded, much like the "anything but a full-backup is butching" view), just pointing out that if one is interested in making top-quality backups, there is more than one way of doing it, depending on an individual's preferences.
While using something like DVDShrink may clearly not be a top-quality backup choice (because it sacrifices quality in favour of speed/ease of use), the same cannot be said about movie-only backups with CCE. Because IMO I sacrifice junk in order to get the best quality main movie.
Anyway to summarise, if YOU feel you don't need a full backup then don't make them.
/me places soapbox back in cupboard door, has a cup of tea, a bex and a nice lie down ;)
2) Can't help, except to say the latter is a more recent version (2.7 is latest).

They got rid of the "NT" subfix when the company was acquired by Sonic, probably some marketing people's idea.

1) No just uncheck the unwanted sets in doitfast4u, and remember to delete them in the video_ts dir before loading reauthorist.
remember to run ifoupdate and ifoedit if you cut out a vts set.
Use Menuedit to disable the buttons to the sets you didn't copy.
Then you can have a copy with menu and menu, and without the extras.
2) None
