Thats because it doesnt extract mpg files. DVD are made up of vobs, ifos and bups. That's all that's on the dvd, that's all you're going to get off it!

tmpg DvdAuthor will extract a mpg2 file from a vob. There are others.

You mean it extracts the M2V (Mpeg2 - JUST video (no audio!)) stream?
DVD Decrypter can do that - its called demuxing.
To get it to mpg, the program will need to 'convert' the vob from its M2V and AC3 parts into a single combined mpg stream. I guess tmpgenc can do that too? I dunno?!

No! I mean DvdAuthor will extract a full fledged, working, perfectly insync, Mpeg 2 file with whatever audio is availible (1 audio only, even ac3 5.1 channel.) If you reauthor using DvdAuthor with this file you will also get correct chapters. At present I can't get it to pull anything else out. Hopefully in the future it will be able to also do correct subtitles. The file must be decrypted first. For a quick down and dirty app, this little prog will do the trick. The real problem is the movie needs to be small enough to get on one 1 dvd. If not its a full transcode requirement.
@ LIGHTNING UK! When I use this I mount the ISO I get from your great software with Daemons tool. Love your app. Please keep up the good work. Should you need beta testers give me a shout.
