I had to use something call a morgan steam switcher to decode the audio on my Xvid movie. Problem is, when I use Virtual Dub or Tmp to extract the audio file to .wav, it doesnt have sound... Do I need a plugin for my TMP or Virtual Dub?

Wow......this is really a classic.

1. Wrong forum. Xvid containing AVI has nothing to do with (S)VCD.

2. Wrong topic. Audio has nothing to do with xvid.

3. Morgan Stream Switcher does not decode audio. It does what it says. It switches between streams.

4. Whatever audio is in the avi, it's probably not wav. Figure out what kind of audio you have (i.e. with GSpot) and demux it appropriately, VDubMod would be a good choice.

Didn't mean to offend. What happens if you demux the audio with VirtualDubMod? You can get it from the Doom9 download page.

Ok, I'm a total newbie at doing this, can you run me through the process of finding the audio codec? I'll give you the information you need with GSpot and you tell me what to download so I can decode with VirtualDub. Please and thank you.

If you got MSN or something, its easier to talk there, and I got dinner, so I'll tell you what you need to know to help me after I come back.

Ok, I'm back and I demuxed it. After demux it turns to be ac3, which is not encodable on TMPG. However, I did save to wav but it sound distorted, it feel like a little bit skipped... Anyway, is there a better way to do it? Can I use TMPG so that it will accept my ac3?

Please go to the doom9 guides section and do some reading. There are excellent guides on format conversion and this means there is also a guide to convert from AVI to SVCD. This will help you anyway to first understand what you have to do and then you are able to ask much more specific questions.

It's all about learning but please do a little bit of homework before.

Just some hints: After demuxing the AC3 from the AVI transcode the AC3 directly to MP2 with BeSweet (again read the guides, there's an exellent guide on AC3 to MP2).

Second: Don't feed the AVI with XviD directly to TMPGEnc. You can avoid many problems by frame serving. Get Avisynth and write a script where you resize to the necessary SVCD resolution. Feed the avs file to TMPGEnc which avoids choppiness. Also check that you have XviD installed and that this is used for decoding the video.
