I use Nero 5.5.10.28 and burn to a DVR-105.

Specify disc as DVD-Video, ISO9660, Joliet unchecked.

You can also use Img-Tool that handles setting the Nero settings to create a DVD for stb use.

i tried those settings in the past, appart from the unchecking joliet one, and i still get no disc on a panasonic rv32 and a schneider stand alone players, when using dvd+r datawrite discs. on the old ricoh mp5125 i had before i could just set the book type to dvd-rom and they would work, but this pioneer doesnt seem to be able to do this trick :(. im begining to wonder if i shouldnt have gone with a different make.

Try the default video settings with a DVD-R disk. I have the dvr-106 and rv32 player and it works fine. I have not tried the DVD+R media

I also have problem using DVD+R discs on my Panasonic CP67 standalone player, discs are burned with Pioneer A06.

It doesn't matter what software I use, there is ablosultely no way I can change the compatibility bit to DVD-ROM. Pioneer just doesn't allow it.

Too bad that I jumped into this dual format drive, I should just stick with DVD-R. The more I use the +R format, the more I found out that it has no advantages over the -R.

Just a big hype. Oh yeah, wait until the dual layer +R format is out, that's another disaster when everyone will have to buy new stand alone players.

I could not disagree with you more. I have found +R to be easier to work with than -R. Out of about 10 standalone players I have tried (at my house and relatives' house and friends' house), only two have refused to play +R disks without the bitsetting trick. I agree that Pioneer and Sony should have allowed for the bitsetting, but I have had much more problems with cheap DVD-R (princo) than with DVD+R. If I were to buy a single format burner, it would be a "+R", not a "-R".

I have nothing but read problems, I burned no less than 300 DVD-R's with only 3 or 4 that couldn't be read on either stand alone or my laptop DVD-ROM (Matshita drive)

Since I got the A06, I've burned about 12 DVD+R discs, and (beside the Panny issue), I couldnt read even the data discs in my laptop drive. I have never had any problem with the laptop drive reading DVD-R's.

Maybe it's just my luck. I'm definitely buying -R blanks from now on. The only reason why I got the dual format drive was DVD+R discs were cheaper a few month ago.

Sorry friend, but I disagree with you.

You see, I ALSO have the CP67. It's just you and I from what I can find in this forum. Here is my experience.

My player has been less and less able to play DVD-R's lately. Not sure why, I think it's 4X media, no matter how you burn it. However, DVD+R's, with the booktype changed, play PERFECTLY, even if the Kprobe readings are quite a bit worse then the -R's I try.

I found a new firmware for the CP67 now, just today, and the Booktype NO LONGER MATTERS. DVD+R is all I buy from here on in.

Got it here - http://www.firmwareupdate.us/

This link covers MANY Panasonic players - I would suggest all owners take a glance. They require a Paypal donation of at least $1 before they reveal the download links. I think they deserve it.
