Menu with Nero 5

I got Nero 5, when I made my first VCD movie with it, I made a menu too. It included a background picture and the title. The menu features a trailer then the movie. When I finished and play on my DVD player... the menu don't show up. I was pretty sure it flashed but then disappeared, I had to use my remote and hit the number to play it. This usually isnt a problem but I want the menu too to make it look like an actual DVD movie.

Now for those that dont like details, lets cut to the point:
How do I make the menu stay on?
Or is there any other program to burn it other than VCDeasy (I dont have it and trial only allows 400 MB)

same problem here using Nero 6.0.0.11

I created a VCD with a menu like you describe, and the menu only flashes for a 1/100th of a second and then i have a blank screen and no menu. i can play the titles with the numbers on the remote, however.

Any solution to this problem ?

No solution for your problem here, either. However you can find the last free vcdeasy version without any size limitations at doom9.org.
Alternatively, there is tscv (a different vcdimager frontend) and the official Philips VCD toolkit, now made freeware and available for download at http://icdia.org/sw_pc/vcdtools.html.

You could also try downloading and installing Daemon Tools (http://www.daemon-tools.cc/portal/download.php?sid=6ce5a2d83ff5afcfeffbfae7103c4692/), then mount your files in its "virtual drive" before burning. This step helps avoid some of the problems encountered when using Nero. Even if this doesn't help with your current problem, Daemon is a slick little app to have in your toolbox. :)

This is only my experience with Nero 5.5 product line. As you know, Nero came out a lot of updates for their product at their site (at one time almost every month), and I download their updates from time to time. And what I have experienced are:

- Between the 5.5.5.5 to 5.5.9x.x versions, the menu are very consistent, always OK.
(Note: At some point, during all these version updates, you can no longer be able to choose how big your font is. And I forgot which version was it, because the OEM's version of Nero that came with my TDK's CD burner has this ability)

- Version 5.5.10.0, the menu flicker.
- The next version I tried was 5.5.10.20 and I have been sticking with this version since. The VCD's menu is OK, and the reason I was sticking with it, because I haven't had any issue when burning DVD-R (I had issue burning DVD-R with 5.5.10.0)

I did download the latest version of 5.5.10.54, but have not tried it yet. I guess I'm following the "If it doesn't break why fix it?" philosophy. Besides, I'm doing a lot of overburning, and I heard there's overburning issue when they introduced 5.5.10.50, and there's a patch at Nero.com. I'm guessing 5.5.10.54 should fix this, but for now 5.5.10.20 satisfy my overburning just fine.

With all these updates, I'm sure there are versions that will fix your menu. How about trying the latest and the greatest?!! ... You can find upgrades for Nero 5.5 here:
