I've been using DVDShrink B5 very sucessfully but have a question about the occasional DVD that seems to have multiple titles making up the movie. (I am using re-author to get just teh movie.) The main movie seems to be in Title one but there seems to be bits of the movie in the other titles too.

I'm not sure if these extra titles are necessary to allow watching the movie or not.

One such DVD is "Out of Sight". It has Title of 4270MB and then Titles 2-15 which range in size from 9MB to 111MB (Compressed). I tried deleting teh extra titles but when I do DVDSHrink seems to add the size back to Title 1 so I just end up with a larger Title 1.

What's going on here?

Is your title 1 set on automatic? As you delete the extra titles, the free space you created will automatically be allocated to title 1.

Another way of asking - does the full size of title 1 change when you delete the extra titles, or only the compressed size? If the original size changes, then I have absolutely no idea what's going on. In my experience, the original size should not change.

Kedirekin, you are correct, when I delete the extra titles the compression value of title 1 does in fact rise. I see what it's doing now. Thanks.

But one question still remains... what are all those extra titles for? It doesn't seem to need them for playing the movie.

Are you dragging over the entire movie folder, or just title 1?

I'm going to assume that you're dragging over the entire movie folder, so DVDShrink pulls in the extra titles because they were in the movie folder after quick analysis.

Then the question becomes - how did DVDShrink pick what to put in the movie folder?

Based on my experience with episodic DVDs, I thought DVDShrink just chose the largest title and all titles within a certain tolerance of that size - though that's always just been a guess on my part.

Does anyone know the real answer?

mikepa, these titles are probably extras sharing parts of the main one.
To make sure, try "View >> Combine Shared Titles". ;)
