Yup. I've a few players at home. One of them being APEX AD370. I recently found out that it doesn't play a few movies I burned. I usually check my finished works using WinDVD and the other standalone players.

Here is the deal: If I strip a cell/chapter off a title with say 2 cells (e.g. one is the Copyright Warning, and the other one is a 0.15 second blank screen). If the cell I've just stripped is a chapter played before the movie starts, the will APEX fails to play the movie. It will stop after trying to play the stripped chapter.

I tried to make the player bypassing the chapter by modifiying the number of precommand in the particular PGC using guide by 2COOL but the player still won't play.:(

All other standalone players (one of them is also an APEX) work just fine with the same disk. I don't know what the heck the player wants.

In anothe case, the movie The Hot Chick, the chapters being stripped are the ones suppose to be played before the Main Menu shows. The APEX simply fails to get to the menu. When I edited the precommand of the problematic PGC so that it goes straight to Main Menu, it did but when I click PLAY, nothing happens. It seems that it must play the stripped chapter to pass some parameters in order for the Menu to work.

I wonder any of you know what is going on. Thanks in advance.

MackemX,

Of course not. I am a big fan of your guides and therefore taking your advice for not stripping any of the little tiny 0.15 chapters. A few KBs won't hurt the overall size of the DVD anyway.

The problem with this stupid DVD player is that it won't play if I strip any of the chapters b4 it gets to the movie or main menu. Since it doesn't accept DVD+RW, I can only test it with DVD+R or DVD-R. You can imagine how many Disk I need to burn in order to test it. So, I have gave up with The Hot Chick. I'm going on to another movie and doing it differently to test the piece of #@$*.

You might say, since it is a piece of #$%*, why don't u just forget about it and not using it at all. Well, the reason I still have patience to deal with it is b'cos I'm curious and wanna find out what the heck is going on.

@Chowskie
It sounded like your DVD player is as picky as IC7 when any stripping would give error. I have an idea, why dont you try the trick where you change the VobID/CellID of the Copyright Warning to the same as the .15 blank clip. The details are in recent @MackemX and @2COOL guides. See if that works with your player, then later you can try with the unreferenced VobID stripped out.

Thanks Voo_doo99, yup, I definately will give that a try later when I'm working on a DVD which has a small warning chapter before the movie starts. I don't wanna waste any more of my DVD+R just doing test on movies that I already burned although they don't work on that piece of %$#&*.

But I kinda doubt it will work b'cos I used the bypassing guide & blank out guide of 2COOL and the player didn't like it. Oh well, maybe I didn't do it right or something.

If not just post up the IFO details and someone will help

p.s. I see your sig is Matrix style, maybe you will like IC in a Matrix style (MATRICX (http://www.deano.dsl.pipex.com/backup/Pics/matrix.htm) 250kb)

Hmm... I redo the one movie that didn't work b4, Knockaround Guys, and now it works. I don't know what's going on. I thought I took exactly the same steps in making both the old one and this new one. I'll check the difference between the file involved (where the player stops), VTS_01_0.IFO on the two disks later when my friend return the old one he borrowed from me.

Now, I only have two movies that don't work properly on the AD370 -- About A Boy and The Hot Chick. I think I might be able to fix Abot A Boy if I can find the difference in VTS_01_0.IFO of Knockaround Guys. As for The Hot Chick, I really fed up with it since I have had made 4 disks that won't load on the player. This movie has pretty "messy" commands in the command tables for its PGC_menu and VTS_PGC. These commands refer to each other back and forth from one titleset to the other.

Yup, my learning curve is still on the uphill stage. There r so much to learn. Every DVD has its own structure. So far I only encounter about 5 with similar structure.

lol. Is it one of the skin for IC8??

the learning curve is indeed steep at the beginning but it does level out eventually :)

If you don't wanna waste time searching and testing removing stuff, use Menuedit to the job in seconds and save so much time. I use it now even though I can do it manually with Ifoedit due to the saving in time and effort

the skins come from WindowsBlinds themes so they're not really skins for IC8, just adopted
