i'm about to get a dvd writer soon here and lately i've been ripping all kinds of dvds so i can burn em when i get the burner (have a WD 200GB HD...$80 none the less:D). anyway..i've been ripping em all in iso format anticipating the option of loading the iso in a burning program and selecting certain streams (if the iso is over 4.7 gigs). just today, i started looking through the dvd backup guides and noticed none of the methods for stripping extras includes loading an iso and simply selecting which streams to burn and not to. all guides tell to rip the disc in file mode. i know that i could just extract all the iso's when i'm ready to burn, but i'd think that there would be a simple method like i mentioned..just load the iso and check which parts of the disc you want to burn. that would be so simple..always burn all the menus and while playing, if you select a menu option that the disc you burn doesn't contain..nothing would happen or your dvd player would just produce a read error. am i just dreaming about a method this simple or is it possible..with dvdxcopy perhaps...??

depends on the backup method you choose, but you just need to install daemon tools and then you can just mount the iso images through that program. This way explorer will think it is a dvd-rom. As a virtual dvd-rom you can load it into every backup application just as if it was backed up in file mode. In fact some programs perfere it that way.

i use daemon tools all the time to watch the isos of the dvds i've ripped. my question is why isn't there a burn method where you load an iso and just select the streams and files you want to burn to the disc? lets say you have a dvd that's 7 GB with widescreen and fullscreen formats. you rip the entire disc to your hdd in iso format. you want to burn it, you open the program (that i'm wondering if there's such thing as) load the 7 GB ISO. it displays titles (vts_X). so for this example there would be 2 titles, 1 for fullscreen and 1 for widescreen. i can't fit them both on a 4.7 GB disc so i've gotta pick..of course i pick the widescreen version. so i'd check the box next to the widescreen title (and of course the dvd menus) and uncheck the box next to the fullscreen title so it'll burn the entire dvd except for the fullscreen version. and you could select and deselect streams you want or don't want. i realize there's all kinds of methods to do this, but i'm talking about just loading a single iso file and selecting the parts of the iso you want to burn. so if i was doing a 2 disc backup, disc 1 would have the exact opposite contents checked/unchecked as the 2nd one...except for the menus which would be on both discs. just that some options on the menu would work and some wouldn't depending what you included on the disc. in a nutshell i want to strip an iso..have the program leave out certain streams, titles, ect while burning...

HEHE just kidding.
I think that the program you are looking for is COMING SOON...
I think IC8 is suppose to let you do a FULL disc copy where you can leave out certain titles sets. However I do not think that it, or any other program will except ISO natively, so you will still have to use daemon tools to mount them.
