I purchased a Toshiba SD-R5002 several months ago. I use it mainly for data backup or personal video production, using DVD-RW as media. During theese months, I had several problems with DVD-RW, in particular:
- on cheapest media the burning process usually fails
- the recorder is able to write on branded media (TDK, Verbatim). But after a few number of erasures (5-10)the media become corrupted. The burning stops during Lead-in writing. I tried also the full erasing of media, but it does not solve the problem.
What are your experiences with DVD-RW and Toshiba writer ?
Do you have any suggestion ?
Regards,
Fabio

I have yet to experience failures when writing to RW. I have been using Verbatims, but I am probably reaching >10 rewrites just now.

Which firmwware version are you using? Maybe upgrading to a current version could resolve your problem?

At present I have the firmware 1033 (the latest).
Toshiba's Customer Support suggested to downgrade to 1031
