ac3 stream splitting

by chapter..how do i do it? i have a roger waters concert..each chapter is a song, i want to split the entire audio stream into those chapters but i've tried having smart ripper and dvd decrypter split by chapter but the ac3 stream is always 1 file. even trying to create d2v's out of every vob creates a single ac3 stream. there's 23 chapters in the concert, i need 23 ac3's. thanks for any help.

You could rip all the chapters individually in DVD Decrypter and then demux the AC3's with BeSweet, DVD2AVI, or whatever else.

Its not hard... Use IFO mode. Set file splitting on the IFO tab/page in the settings to 'By Chapter'. Demux the audio as you normally would.

that's the thing, doing that creates 1 ac3 file but 23 vob files, it doesn't split the ac3:(

You can use the DVD2AVI command-line version (by dvd2svcd) to write a batch file that will extract the audio from those 23 vob files.

DVD2AVI.exe -CS=2 -YR=1 -DD=2 -EXIT -OF=[C:\DVD\chap1] -IF=[C:\DVD\VTS_01_1.VOB]
DVD2AVI.exe -CS=2 -YR=1 -DD=2 -EXIT -OF=[C:\DVD\chap2] -IF=[C:\DVD\VTS_02_1.VOB]
etc

should do the trick.

There are other ways of doing it but that should suffice...

Sorry dude, I just tired it myself and I got the following output:

VTS_01_CHAPTER_01_1 - 0x80 - Audio - AC3 - 2ch - 48kHz - DRC - English - DELAY -33ms.AC3
VTS_01_CHAPTER_02_1 - 0x80 - Audio - AC3 - 2ch - 48kHz - DRC - English - DELAY -33ms.AC3
VTS_01_CHAPTER_03_1 - 0x80 - Audio - AC3 - 2ch - 48kHz - DRC - English - DELAY -33ms.AC3
etc etc.

So you're either

1. Not using DVD Decrypter
2. Using and old version
3. Not using it properly

derrrr. under stream processing i guess i had the video stream highlighted when i clicked the demux option, instead of the audio stream selected. so it was creating a vob for the audio (which was all that i chose to process) because i had direct stream copy selected. thanks lightning. hmm, how i have to make sure each ac3 has the right amplitude applied or each chapter will be a different volume. i should probably take the loudest file and see how much i can amplify it and apply the same to each file..i'm blabbing, thanks man

This is my biggest problem figuring out, I cannot get DVD Decrypter to rip by chapters for a concert dvd in order to get 18 seperate tracks...I get one big wav file when using dvd2avi....
How do you rip by chapters (to get 18 on this particular dvd) in dvd decrypter? Thank you.

That was it! Duh! Sorry, I wish Decrypter made that more obvious or someone would come up with a easy guide to rip, track by track a concert dvd to cd. Thanks much!
