problems muxing mpeg2 video

I've got some problems when muxing a mpeg-2 video and a mp2 sound with bbmpeg v1.24 b13. First, I muxed a 480x480 mpeg-2 with a 128k mp2 and everything was fine. Then, I muxed the same movie with a higher res./rate 720x480 with a 224k mp2 and a 192k mp2, also. Both cases, the movie plays 9-10 secs with sound and then becomes mute.
I encoded the mp2 audio with besweet from an ac3 extracted with dvd2avi.
I Tried the same 720x480 clip with a 224k mp3 (from ac3/besweet) and the same happened.
When I play the mp2/mp3 by themselves they are ok.
Any idea what's going on ?:confused:

Sorry, ammck55, but it is not explained in the rules. As it isn't how to consult a moderator. At least I didn't understand it from reading them.:(
I tried 'Report this post to a moderator' but the statement there let me guessed it wasn't the case.
And I thought I could delete my thread as it is stated in the rules.

Rule #8 covers this, but hey, let's move on and try and find some help for you. Now that you're aware of the rule, you should be good to go! I don't have your solution, but when the gang wakes up in the other time zones where they're sleeping right now, you'll probably get some help.

Yesterday I tried to demux one of these problematic videos. I used DVD2AVI and the extracted mp2 was the same as the video: only 9-10 secs of sound and then mute. But, as I said, the original mp2 is ok. Is it a problem with bbmpeg ? Is there any limit of bitrate ? These videos are 2500 and 3500 CBR. The mp2 are 192k and 224k.
I know they are not standards but I'm playing with my dvd player to see what it acepts. Everything I posted here it's computer related, though.

hi,
honestly i'm not completely sure what you are going for. if you are going for SVCD (480x480 would definitely be a standard SVCD res) your bitrate is probably too high... iirc (haven't done any SVCDs for quite some time) it's around 2500 kbit (max not avg) including audio...so effectively you are way out of bounds of the SVCD specs with a 2.5- 3.5 mbit stream.

if you are going for DVD you are surely within the specs as the max is around 10 Mbit :)

furthermore i'd like to know how you play these files. do you creat isos, or normal mpg files, or something alike?

It's simple, at least for me!:D
I have a dvd player, a cd writer and don't have a dvd writer.
My dvd player isn't supposed to play svcds but I found out that it plays with the vcd trick.So, what I'm trying to do now is to find out what's the best video/audio rates I can multiplex that my dvd player will be able to play.
'till now, I was able to play a 480x480 1150 cbr mpeg2 + 128k mp2 48k.
I've been enconding the same clip at higher rates to test in the dvd player, but got this problem in the computer when trying to raise the audio mp2 from 128k to 224k or even 192k (video 720x480 3500 cbr + audio mp2 128k worked).

I have the same problem here. It's my first DVD->SVCD conversion with CCE basic 2.67.01.14 and Avisynth 2.52 (no particular filter : only resizing, cropping and "add borders").

The video file is looking very very good (i love my new cce :o ) , the audio alone is ok (encoded with besweet 1.5b21).

I tried to mux my files with tmpgenc (the last version) but it didn't worked ("invalid audio file" maybe because my sample rate is 48000 and tmpgenc want 44100) and with bbmpeg (the last version too) the audio is a little distorted and after 10 sec the audio is completely gone :confused:

any advices ?

So, after reading hics' post i tried the besweet's stable version 1.4 (was using v 1.5b21) but things got worse.
I encoded from vob to mp2 192kbps 48khz using besweet gui (v0.6b083) and everything was ok unless the log that pointed to lame and 128 cbr mp3 instead of 2lame and 192k mp2 (I don't have the log here) but the mp2 file was created. I heard it and was fine.
When trying to multiplex in bbmpeg, it always stopped almost at the end (very near) and I had to abort the process. Tried many times. In the bbmpeg log (don't have here, either) it understood the mp2 as an ac3 160kbps file !!!
Again, I encoded the same using v 1.5b21, muxed in bbmpeg and it finished ok. But, when playing the clip the sound muted again (in a different farther point) as expected.
Anybody knows what's going on with besweet or bbmpeg ? :confused:

EDIT: Is there another bbmpeg version that I can try ?
