MGI Videowave output: DV-AVI or TV/VCR AVI

Anybody knows what are the differences between the two outputs in videowave 4.0?
The DV-AVI is compressed and will play fine with media player in the PC. The TV/VCR-AVI is uncompressed (large file) and it will play with pauses in the PC.

The footage is captured by a miniDV camera and edited with Videowave. I want to get it to an avi form for an external mpg compression. I have read that I should use dv-avi (in videowave) (according to bb, BTW thanks for the guide).
Why do we go for a compressed avi form when the capture is uncompressed?

Your miniDV camcorder does not record uncompressed video, but DV, which has a 5:1 compression ratio. And that's the format you get through the firewire cable. If you use uncompressed format in VideoWave, you decompress the file, but you don't gain quality.

Uncompressed (or losslessly compressed) video may be interesting only if you edit the video very much, so that you'd get multiple recompression when using DV. But this is normally not the case.
