The Godfather - Part II in 1 Disc (DVD2One Join)

Hello there,
I am doing an experiment here, trying to backup the 2-disc version of Godfather Part II in one DVD-R using DVD2One 1.30 join seamless mode.

The original discs had 2 audio streams (english 6ch and english 2ch) plus various (around 8) subtitle streams.

I only selected english 6ch audio and 2 subtitle streams, and I used Constart-Bitrate mode.

The original (main-move) only files were about 11GB. I was wondering what kind of quality would I get (DVD2One is processing right now). Total duration of the movies is 300 minutes (more than 3 hours!!!).

I bet all of you will agree that the picture quality will be awful, but I am willing to give it a shot as I hate swapping discs in the middle of the movie.

I will let you know with the results, however, you can start yelling at me right now!

You must enjoy watching a lot of quality macro blocks. DVD2ONE processing to boost, yep, that should do it! :D And I had to split Disc 1 to retain the original quality, tsk, tsk, what do I know. Have fun!

To avoid the disc swapping, get yourself a DVD changer. :cool:

I only hope that the movie will be at least watchable. It might come up with a "VCD-shot-in-the-cinema with a 2 eurocents-worth camera with dirty lens" quality.

Nope, don't do it waaaaay too bad. Going for 2 discs.

i used dvd2svcd on both discs using cce to 2.1gb per disc, then used d2o to join. near perfect quality. lot better than d2o alone.

This way is much slower, and even if one decides to do it, he should spend around 3GB for the 1st disc and 1GB for the 2nd one, as they contain 2h and 1h of movie respectively.

Anyway, I went for 2 discs.

If you could get it down to under 9999MB with some audio streams cut out, you could use DVD2One to join it without any quality loss then run it through DVD2SVCD. That would probably be your best bet.
