Buckaroo Banzai w/ big 3 issues

Hello,

I would like to back up Buckaroo Banzai but I'm having issues ;)

First, in ReAuthorist it shows up as having two main video files - I believe this to be false. There is a theatrical and extended release on the disk - the ONLY difference is a 2min intro scene. I have a hard time believe they would put two complete versions on the disk just for that? Is there some way for me to check this? I pulled the vobs out of the iso and played them through zoom - does this sound right (could I be missing somthing)? If so - I'm pretty positive there's really only one main video file.

In ReAuthorist I select to only encode the one I want however scenarist is consistantly incapable of loading the resulting project. If I try to author it anyway - it crashes.

Any advice is appreciated!

FYI: If I don't know the problem is with something called "seamless branching" - then how should I have known to read that guide? :confused: I'm happy to read the guide - but please do not expect people to have read *all* the guides on the site (there are 22 on just that page alone). An expectation of this sort of esoteric knowledge strikes me as a bit of a paradox in a forum addressed to those with little or no experience in the matter!

But still - I REALLY appreciate the clue, please keep helping stupid people like me!

BB-it's always good to have a solution pointed out, isn't it? Knowledge comes with reading, learning, and...doing. If you're starting from scratch with very little understanding of DVD structure or format conversions, just the basic terminology can seem daunting and indecipherable. The first step on the way to handling seamless branching is finding out exactly what it is and the components it's made of, but no one would "expect" a noob to be able to figure this out on his own the first time he's confronted with it. As with all conversions, you must first figure out what you have, and next, what you want to do with it. Each time you come here, you'll learn more of this wonderful hobby. Read. Test. Enjoy!

Of course - I agree with everything you said. I must have taken the "Please read the guides before posting." statement differently then you - as an admonishment for posting my question. I'm sure this was an erroneous conclusion on my part and the direct result of my lengthy annoyance with this seamless branching whoozlefudge.
