Removing ads from the new divx 5.1

I think the AD version of DivX 5.1 has different methods of installing spyware programs compared to 5.0.5. In fact, after I clean my system with AdAware, when I reboot, at the startup I notice a program which attempts to connect to somewhere (the program's name is rasautou.exe).

Hi,

Actually 'rasautou.exe' is in fact a Microsoft remote dialer. And comes with all versions of XP.

You have been caught by the infamous Sobig F email worm, which has been plaguing the net for the past few weeks. Although serious the infection was prevented from being a lot worse by vigilant ISPs and most PC users following the simple rule of not opening unsolicited attachments. It sounds as though you haven’t updated your anti-virus software lately in which case you should do it now and run a complete scan. It might also be worth downloading and running a Sobig F removal tool, you can download one free from: http://www.symantec.com/avcenter/venc/data/

Hi Seemore: Although I use Kaspersky AVP on my PC, and it didn't report me any virus, I tried the Symantec's tool but it didn't find nothing. So it is not a virus.
Some minutes ago I tried to deinstall divx codec and I rebooted my computer to see if that MS dialer keeped to bother me. The result: it didn't bother me anymore.

So it HAS to do with the DivX AD codec.

Seems to me I read they have a new method for the adware. Sort of like kazaa. If you don't allow the adware to run it doesn't work properly. hehe.

That's what firewalls are for. (I hope I'm allowed to say that) Seriously $20 ain't bad and they certainly deserve it. Supply and demand though and the market is supply controlled. Every time I'm about to pay I think, but then I could just use XVID. I prefer the look of divx a little though. I guess the biggest thing eating at me a little is that divx says they don't gaurantee free upgrades on major versions (of course it's never really gauranteed.. they can always change the name a little). Then again I've probably gotten more than my 20 bucks worth already.. so I'll probably give them my money one of these days... like one day when I have more money. They've done good work.

edit: of course there are questions I think about whether XVID should really be free for that matter.
