Problems with 5.1 and Vdub mod

Hello,i just switched to 5.1 and went on to see the changes.
Im using gknot .28.5 and vdub mod,i think the newest(a couple of weeks old?).

I tried to do a compress check,and tho im impressed by the feedback window i saw a ridiculous reduction to 5-10 fps!Im using a p4 2.6 800fsb and the compress check for a certain movie would take 7 mins,now it takes 30-40?!?
I disabled feedback,but still same fps.

What could be wrong?Isnt divx 5.1 supposed to be faster?

Moreover,can feedback slow down compression?

Apparently the feedback window can slow things down, I don't have much use for it so I've disabled it, go to setting in the codec configuration.
As for the compress tests it sounds like your using the slow or slowest Performance/Quality mode, try using standard which is roughly on par with slowest in 5.0.5. I tried a couple of compress test comparisons with different modes and it seemed that the mode doesn't matter much so better to go with the quickest setting.

Yeah,i remember changing to slowest.U sure that slowest does not improve quality?

Anyway,should i switch to slow or normal now?
Any other things to look out for?

In normal encoding slowest will provide improved quality, it's just that in the few comparisons I did with compressibility tests there was only a few percent difference between the modes. So to my mind instead of doing a compress test that will take 30-40mins do the one that takes 5-10mins. You may want to test it out for yourself, do a compress test in standard and compare it to the result for slowest, I might do the same as I only tried it a couple of times.

The only other thing I suggest is to read up on some threads on this release and Kaukura here and at divx.com, there are a few suggested methods for getting the improved quality of the slowest mode without using it for every pass.
