Hi,

I have some doubts as follow:

1 - There is any other App. that can encode to HE-AAC instead of Nero??

2 - For movies, what is your opinion for HE-AAC bitrate, for a good quality???

3 - In what point is HE-AAC Development, is already stable and good enought to be used or should we stick to AAC for now.

Thanks for your opinion.

Regards,
Sniffer.

HE-AAC is suprising for it's quality on low bitrates...I think it will be a nice thing in future homemade films.

Anyway I don't think that exists a dshow filter to play it....well I don't know if it can be muxed in an AVI anyway!

1. No atm

2. I don't use low bitrates often, which are the point of AAC HE, but probably 64-96 kb/s would be a good range for HE.

3. It is definitely stable. It's not a new format, just a different profile of AAC.

4. Definitely not muxable in AVI, try MKV or MP4, but there is a DShow filter that works great, latest CoreAAC should handle HE AAC.

HE-AAC works flawlessly in MKV and OGM, I didn't try MP4 yet, but with the 3ivx DirectShow filters it should work nevertheless. For muxing use Moritz Bunkus' mkvmerge (MKV) or Nic's version of OggMux (OGM). You find both in the 'new video formats' forum.

Cheers,

P.S.: Try 5.1 with latest Nero 6 encoder, definitely a must.

Maybe HE-AAC will find it's use in 5.1. :)
