Menuedit owners please read this for superfast cell replacement

If you want to remove content from your DVD but are afraid of Ifoedit (http://www.dvdrhelp.com/tools?tool=9#comments) then this may an option for you instead of playing around with Ifoedit and taking forever to get rid of the crap and also risk upsetting the DVD structure as it results in perfect copies you can playback because all you are doing is inserting a small blank frame into the cell retaining the original DVD Vob/Cell structure

the only downside to this is you need to buy the registered version of Menuedit (currently $16.50/£10.50) but for the time it will save you, you will feel it is worth every penny

Anyone who already uses Menuedit to replace cells they do not want may be interested in this faster method

I have created 3 macro keys so that the task of replacing a cell is done in a matter of seconds and updating the IFO takes seconds also

remember you must have a registered version of Menuedit by the way as the free version does not include the replace cells feature so don't try it with the free version as it will not work

the 1st hotkey replaces the cell without you having to tell it where it is etc which is time consuming as it takes so many mouse clicks to accomplish whereas this method is one mouse click (which is to click the Replace button) and then one keyboard press to actually replace it

the 2nd and 3rd Hotkeys can update the IFO's without having to do it the way it is shown in the guide on Menuedit's site and it's done in two keyboard presses after opening the IFO

I'm sure it can be made faster and simpler with a few minor adjustments to Menuedit and I'm also sure Dimad can sort that out as soon as I can get in touch with him

any comments or questions just shout up but I do hope you enjoy the simplicity of it :D

I will probably be making other Hotkeys to do more than just replace cells after I have played with Menuedit a little longer as I've only had it a few hours

Nobody can't use your method because you have a "NTSC 25fps" VOB only! :eek: :p Just joking! We know it's a typo.

Anyway, I tried using it. The first time, it's slow to learn but I can see the advantage of it when you get proficient at it.

I had a problem though on trying to delete specific chapters/cells in my Titles. You gotta love beta testers. They'll test out any scenario.;) I didn't see any IFO changes in decrease time in my new IFO and playing my movie to first part I deleted resulted with a "Stopped" in my Status display. Maybe, I'll try it again.

where's the typo is it on the instructions page? as I have updated it again so can you just check that it's ok as I can't see it if it's there still :)

but like you said once you know what to do you can do it with your eyes closed :cool:

not so sure what you meant by decrease time etc but I checked the IFO's after updating them and all seemed to be OK, aswell as playback being just fine but maybe I missed something

the 2nd macro does nearly the same as your stripping PGC guides shown beloow with the 3rd just saving the IFO and closing Ifoedit ready for the next set of VOB's or GetVTS if you are finished

I thought that just did the same thing and it also seems to work if I replace a single PGC VOB with a blank manually and press Hotkeys 2 & 3 which takes nanoseconds to do due to it being a small VOB :) rather than having to click a few times (now that is being lazy)

or should I create a macro to do it using the stripping method?. The thing is I cannot seem to use that method of writing to the same folder as my originals because the warning comes up in Ifoedit stopping me from overwriting. I have always written to a temp folder then copied them back

am I missing something?

sorted it now, just deleted it instead

am I right in thinking if you are replacing a NTSC VOB you should use a NTSC blank and vice versa for a PAL VOB due to the frame size?

that's why I've offered 2 blanks beacuse if you delete a cell but replace it with a PAL VOB but then the next cell is NTSC surely it won't work

I've seen some nasty green borders in PowerDVD in my earlier days of Ifoediting :D
