I searched a bit but couldn't find much, I'm mostly interested in the CCE vs [insert all 1-click solutions] on a progressive scan TV/DVD.
I've burned some movies with DVDShrink ( movie only ) and I'm impressed with the quality, but I recently purchased a Toshiba 34" Widescreen HD capable TV and I'm wondering if I buy a Progressive scan DVD player and start watching my burned discs if the quality difference between the two methods will become obvious?
Anyone?
Thanks,
Ryan

Interresting subject. Progressive scan DVDR.
The progessive scan depends of the encoding, not of the media used.
I feel there is an option in CCE for progressive frame I think, but not sure if this is really a "progressive scan compliant" option.
As I do not have (yet :-) )a Prog. Scan SA DVD player, I did not even look into.
Another question I ask myself is ; Does one button copy soft keep progressive scan if it was on the original ?
"encoding thread" I think, but I wait for your comments before moving it to the encoding forum.

I am about 99.9% sure that both methods using CCE properly and DVDShrink (and IC7) maintain the Progressive frames flag if the original had them.
I have a progressive scan DVD player and a 42" widescreen HDTV monitor. I suppose it does seem brighter and a bit clearer, but the difference in quality is not really noticeable to my eye. I think its just smoother frame rate and brighter picture so easier on the eyes... The resolution is the same etc..
Everyone knows that CCE produces the best quality when you deal with larger movies, say 2 1/2 hours or 3 hours long. But shorther movies like 2 hour movies, I just use the one click methods like dvdshrink and I can't tell the difference. I just do movie-only backups...can always go back to the original for extras and menus.
Whether I back it up with dvdshrink or cce, the quality is outstanding these days :)
Also depends on how good your source is.
