hiya,

i sometimes convert divx files to vcd so that i can play on tv through dvd player. problem is though that audio sounds really terrible. i can't figure out where the problem is. i go back to computer and play file, and audio is good.

i just use latest tmpg, load divx file, load vcd template, convert, burn using nero.

is it something i'm doing wrong or is vcd audio inherently low quality?

If it sounds fine on the computer (meaning the VCD, not the original divx) but bad in your standalone it's probably because something about the audio isn't to VCD specs. It should be 224kbps 44.1Khz mp2. You can go in to Mpeg Tools from Tmpeg's file menu and select the .mpg on the de-mux tab (not the simple demux) and it will tell you what the audio specs are.

It could also be a low quality sample-rate conversion, but that would probably sound bad on both your computer and the standalone.

hi,

yes, settings are correct. the mpg file (converted from divx) sounds fine also. so i guess that means it's either nero or the dvd player?

do your vcd converted from divx, played on dvd player sound fine?
