Question: Filter for TV capture channel has 45 degree (give or take) wavy lines

Hello :)

There is a cable channel I get that used to look just A-OK but ever since the NewTNN started broadcasting as SPIKE TV this channel (one channel lower) has this odd distortion of wavy lines that go across the screen at a 45 degree (give or take) angle.

The wavy lines are straight I call them "wavy" because of the angle that they are at. I had the CABLE GUY over and he said it was a problem with SPIKE TV and the way their signal was bing sent that it was affect not just SPIKE TV but also the channel above and below it. They said it would get fixed eventually ... once they figured it out! It has been like this for at least 4 weeks now and the cable guy was just here late last week.

Anyways ... I'm wondering if there is some sort of VirtualDub or AviSynth filter I can use that might clear it up.

If someone wants I have a space where I can capture a sample and post it.

In fact I think I will make a small capture now just for this purpose.

The filename is TESTCLIP.AVI and it is only 6 seconds long but it is a CHUNK I cut out of my original capture so it is still in it's original form that is why I could only make it 6 seconds because even at that small length the clip is 42.5MB in size!

I captured this using the PICVideo MJPEG codec on the 19 quality setting NTSC 704x480 29.970fps and not that it matters for the test but the sound was done at 16-bit stereo 48k

I should be able to leave this clip up on my website for at least a week so if anyone wants to download it and take a look PLEASE be my guest :)

Peach Smoother is worth a try — It tends to do okay with regular interference like that.

For a first attempt, I would try
PeachSmoother()

Beyond that, the docs explain the settings which can be messed with.
