GMC and QPEL motion Hardware players: Any coming in the future/D5.1 hardware options?

Will nay of the new (Philips) players make use of these features? I know all players using teh Sigma Design will not.

So for using the new DivX 5.1+AC3 is there a good page describing EXACTLY how many options you can use and make it compatible with all (current) sigma hardware players? Theoretically there should really be no bitrate limiations and as long as you keep QPEL and GMC off it should work - correct?

You can use GMC+bframes with the current Sigma + ESS Players. (but only with DivX, not with Xvid).
QPEL is not supportet.

From my tests the bitrate problems start around 6000kBit with the ESS-Players, the Sigma goes even higher, so bitrate should not be the problem. Thats for DVD Playback, from CD the limit seems to be lower.

the xbox can play almost all divx and xvid files with the evox dashboard. with its own hardrive this must be the most attractive option for playing back divx's.

Don't be so mean to Sigma :) , after all we are talking abut prev. generation of their chips , EM8605/8610 are supporting QPel , and GMC can be done in software like on KiSS players.
Btw: It's very relible rummor :) that KiSS going to release it's new top players with this new chips inside DP-558 I believe and the one with DVD writing)...

Are you sure its supports QPel ? Im just wondering that it does support QPel but no GMC as i think GMC should be much easier to implement.
Maybe no need anymore as it is software emulated right now :D

The XBOX is fine and good - I was inquiring about a solution that does not require a soldering iron and illegal?? chips, mods, new DVD drive etc :)

The $150 out of the box solutions look atractive - especially if they have DVI and scaled output. Cheaper then the XBOX+Chips+Ugly ass remote control.

i also heard about the new kiss (dp-1000) which should play gmc and qpel.

dp-1000 wont support qpel, its just a small form factor version of the dp-450. The newer models from kiss using the newest sigma chipsets are rumoured to support qpel.

i am sure that there will be hardware players supporting qpel and gmc, just because people will ask for it, or to better say they will complain that not all of their divx/xvid movies can be played back :D

i am sure it will not take long until a hardware manufacturer will build a player which is really fully mpeg-4 compliant (not this selfmade, more problems creating than solving divx certificate, ignoring qpel and gmc) and which will be able to really playback all divx/xvid movies...

For defense of the Xbox, all you need is a $45 mod chip (they do have versions that require no soldering). From there, use Xbox Media Player and RelaX to stream videos from your PC to your Xbox; perfect DivX playback with no hassles. You then have component hookup to your TV and DD/DTS playback --> good for those of us without such luxuries on our computers. Plus you get the benefit of playing games on it too :)

I agree - it is a nice solution. But then XBOX Live is busted.

Also, if yo don't have an XBOX then it is $179+$45+$29 remote
