2) Is divx player 2.5 the best way to play back avi files created via divx pass 2 files using DVD X software

I have 1 Gb VOB files ...
3) I believe to enable the best quality for display fo fully fill up a note book screen , it will be still to encode to AVI format & Not SVCD format ?

4) under aspect ratio, shd I chg it to 4 : 3 letter box , or medium 4: 3, or pan scan 4: 3 or FULL (16: 9 or 4: 3 input)

a) IN ORDER TO have the play back to occupy entire screen of DIVX player ?
b) AM i right to say that there is no way I can make the final AVI file fill up the whole note bk screen , unless I make it to SVCD format ?

5) Seems TO BE "the full" option ...in item 4 above ..but does picture quality drop as compared to 4:3 letter box or the rest ??

6) My source is US DVD , I do not see any differece in putting it as input frame of 23.97 FPs or 29.97 fps

hi,
first of, I think you should do some basic reading on doom9.org and in the forum here.

2)
pls don't ask what's best...

3)
true, encode to avi (divx/xvid)

4)
pls, pls NEVER change the AR of a movie. if the source is 16:9 leave it at that, if it is 4:3 too... you will either lose a ton of information (image) or will have to stretch the resolution to a very ugly state!

5)
as i said, do NOt change the aspect ratio. You will either lose quite a bit of info, or you'll stetch your picture

6)
if you encode to avi, go for 23.97 fps

...6)
if you encode to avi, go for 23.97 fps...That will be content dependent. I recommend that after faithfoo has read Doom9's DVD Basics section, and read one or two procedure guides, that faithfoo then review this tutorial (http://www.doom9.org/ivtc-tut.htm) to learn when 29.97 or 23.976 will be appropriate for NTSC content, and, which procedures to use when converting from 29.97 to 23.976.
