View Full Version : No Audio during AVI playback...

I burned my friend a copy of three DivX 5 encoded AVIs I created. On the CD I included the DivX 5.0.5 bundle. She installed it and the video playback is fine, but it has no audio.

The AVIs play fine on my computer, but I have the entire GordianKnot rip pack and codecs installed.

I certainly don't want to bog down her computer with all that, and I'm assuming she needs a AC3 decoder...

Am I right? What files do you think she needs in order to get the playback correct?

I appreciate the help as always.

Assuming it is legal to do what you did, (which it is not, in most countries in the world) your friend needs AC3Filter. Download from Doom9's website (http://www.doom9.org/Soft21/Filters/ac3filter_0_70b.exe). Developers' website (http://ac3filter.sourceforge.net/).

Well I had her install the DivX505Bundle.exe, ac3filter_0_70b.exe, and mmswitch.exe onto her WinXP laptop but there is still no audio on the videos.

According to my media player the following filters are in use when I play the movies -

AC3Filter
Default DirectSound Device
DivX Decoder Filter
Morgan Stream Switcher
Video Renderer

I assume that she now has everything she needs to view these videos but there still is no audio.

She uses the XP version of media player so I can't check what isn't running when it fails on audio playback, either...

She informed me that her other AVI files use mp3 audio rather than AC3, as well.
