Hi guys,
I recently purchased a Pinnacle Movie box and so far I notced that I can only capture in Pinnacle Studio8. Anyone know if there is any way to get the device to work in other applications. I would really like to capture in premiere.

Don't think so. :( I HOPE I'm wrong, because there's way too many problems with the Studio8 software.
Which one did you get? I bought the USB version because I already had built-in USB2 support and no firewire. The USB version captures great, and Studio is pretty easy to learn. BUT....
The USB version only captures in MPEG format, and it is virtually impossible to burn a DVD which is in-sync throughout, at least when capturing from a VHS tape.
Take a look at my thread under DVD Authoring and the "Make Disk" thread on the Pinnacle Forum. Good luck, and keep us informed about any problems and work-arounds which you discover!

Have you tried the moviebox with the more advanced pinnacle authoring products like eddition or impression? Im wondering if they have mor functionality

Nope, I have not tried any pinnacle products except for Studio8. The whole capture/render/compile process takes too much time, I'm lucky if I get one run done per day. It is frustrating that a BASIC function can have such major problems. It also irks me that they (Pinnacle) would handicap the product so darned much. In today's world, a product should be supportable in as many environments as possible, and they made it all proprietary....Dumb move, IMHO.

I'm not sure. I thought that the PCTV was a plug-in card. Who makes the PCTV? I think that most of the non-pinnacle cards can be seen by third party softwares. If it can be seen by Virtualdub, then you can "lock" the audio/video together in the software, which will eliminate audio/video sync issues. Plus, you can save files in other than MPEG, which gives you a LOT more flexibility.

Can anyone list some capture cards that will capture in other applications? I think that would be very helpful. I have not had any synching issues on my moviebox (yet). I will take my moviebox over to a friends house who uses eddition and other Pinnacle titles. I'll post what I find.
