I've been laughing at Apple customers from the start. You know, in the Apple ][ days when they didn't have lowercase characters to the Lisa which even Apple pretends never existed to the introduction of the mac with a built-in B/W 9" monitor to the iMac that could use any previously owned hardware, to the switch to PowerPC processors which caused all existing software to be obsolete, to the switch to OS/X which caused all existing software to be obsolete. Etc. And, for all thise great nonsense, Apple users get to pay twice as much for half the power and a tiny fraction of the software. At least they have those Photoshop benchmarks to prove to themselves that they don't have the slowest computer on the planet.

:rolleyes: The Switch ad campaign started in the begining of 2002, so almost two years. Which is close enough to "a few" for me. I guess some of us have become too conscious of time passing. ;)

For all these Apple/Mac-bashing, it's disgusting to see all the mockery thrown at them without people even paying attention to the tremendous progress achieved by the Mac. For example, the guys at HardOCP (http://www.hardocp.com/) brought news link of a Mac Supercomputer. I have to agree with their observation that, and I quote:

"Virginia Tech is tying 1,100 G5s together to make a Mac Supercomputer. They say that once all 1,100 G5s are linked up, it will be able to outperform a single 3GHz x86 based PC in most benchmarks."

Isn't that amazing? I mean I'm now ready to throw out my trusty 1Ghz AMD Thunderbird and get that supercomp. In fact I'm now moving out of my apartment to a whole warehouse so I can fit that 1,100 G5's and bask in the glory of the realization that this much Mac is finally able to catch up to a single 3GHZ PC. So please, enough of the mockery, people.

I sometimes wonder if all those PC devotees going for "Mac-bashing" have some sort of inferiority complex ... are you envious of something? If you're actually convinced "yours" is longer, better, bigger or whatever, why bother to tell everyone who doesn't want to hear?! Yeah, laughing about one system's faults is OK, especially if it is your OS of choice. Ridiculing another one which you don't at all or very little is another thing.

I have seen a bit of both worlds, and I fail to see an "inherent superiority" or whatever in any of the two systems. Both worlds borrow from each other (with Apple being the forerunner in many aspects).

I am not a Mac owner for all sorts of reasons, but is it asking too much to let everyone become happy according to his or her own wishes? I just hate all those brainless MS-Windows- and MacOS-haters ... just get a life, alright ;)?

Some thing are better on the PC other thing's are better on MAC and other thing are better on linux. All come's down to what you want to do.

Nowadays one can think that Macs are as Unix as Linux, so it all comes to the x86 software advantage. FreeBSD gets closer to Linux with its Linux emulation but that's for x86 (talking about the few closed source Linux software, of course).

The funniest thing about the video besides the blatant over reacting is that practically everything he faults the Mac for happens more often on PC. Well at least nowadays. Stupid key combos? Ctrl-alt-del anyone? http://pauillac.inria.fr/~xleroy/stuff/ctrl-alt-del.jpeg Autorun? It may have been on the Mac first like most everything else. But MS made it far more annoying and dangerous like everything else.

They have Darwin for x86 now as well. I ran it for a short time. The main part they are missing is Aqua, carbon, and cocoa for x86. Mostly Aqua though. :sly:

In the end each system is better at some things than the others are. That is why they continue to exist and even evolve. Rue the day Apple dies as it will bring about the death of so called Microsoft innovation. What's funny about the average basher is their total lack of range or scope pertaining to computer knowledge. How many have heard of Amiga before? Acorn perhaps(Surely the guys in the UK)? Alpha? SGI? Sun Sparq? Their knowledge of OS and their list of OS if given a line per OS would fill two lines at best. And even now when many Windows using xenophobes begrudgingly give credit to Linix etc while still bashing the Mac the funniest thing is that Linux has run on the Mac almost since the inception of Linux! About the only reasonably visible OS that does not run on the Mac as well as x86 is Windows. :rolleyes:

Anyhow lets refrain from further bashing as it is counter productive and pointless. Insightfull discussions will be tollerated though. ;)

Other things: Dragging music from my CD-Rom to my desktop copies the song, not a shortcut. That's a windows thing.

Update Manager= Windows thing.

Actually, windoze decides it in a "smart" way. EXEs, BATs, COMs, etc become shortcuts, any other file is moved.
