Keyframe interval

I've posted a similair question into the virtual dub map, anyway nobody responded yet so maybe any guru from here can maybe answer my question. When i made backups of my DVD's i set the keyframe interval to every 1 second. This cause i could make some nice screenshots from the movie itself without to having to miss anything while i browsed trough the compressed avi file. Now how does this works in virtual dub when i encode into XviD? Is it possible? if yes, how and where do i have to change the settings so that i get a keyframe interval for every second instead of every 10 seconds. Please, anybody help me.

I'm not keen on your reasoning at all. If you set the max. keyframe interval to 10 seconds (10*framerate frames) then you will still be able to take screenshots. You just have to seek to the keyframe then progress one frame at a time from there until you get to the precise frame you want a shot of. Alternatively just watch the video and pause it where you want to take a shot and then do so.

If you absolutely must have a keyframe at least every second, set the max. keyframe interval to 1*framerate frames. So for 25fps you would set it to 25 and so on.

You could just take screenshots with virtualdub...
