This might be a very newbie question but, I was wondering if you could copy the movie VOBs directly from the DVD to your Hard drive (Drag and drop), use ifoedit to create new IFO files, then burn the movie. From what I have read I have no reason to believe that this wouldn’t work but no one does it so it seems like I am missing something.

@rtan00

Step 1 Rip movie VOBs in File Mode (DVD Decrypter or SmartRipper)

Step 2 Create new IFOs (IFOedit 0.95)

Step 3 Rename ripped VOBs as VTS_01_*. if not.

Step 4 Test/Preview movie (in IFOedit or PowerDVD or WinDVD)

Step 5 Burn backup

You'll find some DVDs won't let you even do that. Some DVDs don't have thier files encrypted but many do. To decrease the stress on the finding out, just use a ripper at all times. ;)
