Your "fill in the blank" is an obvious reference to downloaded files which are not discussed in this forum. Read the announcement at the top of the Newbies homepage for further explanation and clarification.

Do some serious reading. We'll need to know what kind of a format conversion you're attempting, which program/s you're using, and a good description of the problem. Lurk, read, and get a feel of the forum in general, that's about the best advice I can give you at this time. Present us with a well defined problem that doesn't break any rules, and I think you'll find that a lot of people will go out of their way to help you. Good luck!

some useful information u can give us is:

what extension is the file? (.avi,.mpg,.mkv...)

What codecs are giving you problems? download gspot (http://www.doom9.org/Soft21/Editing/gspot221.exe) and use it to find out what video and audio codecs are in the file.

what software do you use to view the files?

what are your system specs?

once you have all that post back and we'll see what we can do :)
