trouble using dvdx

hey guys,
im having a bit of trouble when i convert a ripped dvd to mpeg.
in some movies, i loose the first 30sec to a minuite of the movie.
if i check through the vob and ifo files it has actually been ripped, however dvdx just seems to skip it.
what am i doing wrong, i change the max file size so it is big enough and not trimming it down.... it has me stuffed what it is.
does it have something to do with the copy protection of my dvds

It helps if you provide a wee bit more information, for instance, what program are you trying to convert with? Re-read the forum rules and the Stickies, especially the ones at the top of the Newbies homepage, and the ones in the DVD2SVCD Basic Topics forum, and stay within the context of the rules. ok, sorry try this.
ripping using smart ripper, then trying to convert to mpg using dvdx v2.2
all chapters seem to be ripped correctly, but when i run dvdx it will start 30sec to 1 1/2 mins into the movie. i make sure it has a large enough max file size, and that isnt the problem.
any tips or things to look for, or any other info u need.

by the way, i did read the rules, and i didnt think i broke any of them, also i spent a good part of a night searching previous threads.
i have also looked through all guides and cant seem to find anything about this problem.

hi,
pls clarify what your goal is. in your first post you talked about divx now you mention mpg. it is essential for us to know what format you are going for, otherwise we cannot help you!

if you are really talking about mpeg1 (vcd) and not mpeg 4 (divx), pls reformulate the thread title (or i will ;))

yes i am trying to convert to mpeg 1 video format.
any ideas what could cause dvdx to skip the first min or so on some dvd's.
it does it on about 1 in 10 dvd's and is driving me mad.

this only happens with some dvds when ripped to hard drive and DVDx isnt the only program to suffer from it. there are 3 solutions.

1. use DVDx to encode from dvd. you can set DVDx to use a HD buffer which means it rips what you set (so you can set something big so the dvd drive is not accessed while encoding).

2.rip to hd using dvdshrink as it will create a new ifo that is correct.

3.create a new ifo using ifoedit.
