I was in Best Buy yesterday and saw that they're selling 100-disc spindles of TDK 2x DVD-Rs for $169. Has anyone gotten one of these spindles? Who manufactures the discs and are they any good? I'd like to go ahead and get one, but what with Verbatim and Fuji selling CMC and Ritek discs in their large spindles I'm starting to get worried.

For that price just go to Rima.com and buy what brand you want for less.
The last time I looked Ritek G03's were $1.14 a disc.

If you wanted G04's then they were around $1.50 each.

I prefer Ritek to the other -R discs out there myself.

Only coasters were my fault and all discs still play with no issues since buying the burner in December of 2002.

There are no 2x -R disc BTW only 1x and 4x. Yes you can trick some burners and some versions of the Sony firmware will burn 1X media at 2X, but the spec is 1X.
+R's are 2.4X and 4X. For the +R's TDK mostly uses Ricoh.

I have burned over 400 of them so far, no coasters yet. I never burn to the edge though...usually 4gb is my limit.
