New to DVD2SVCD. All I can say is WOW! What streamlined interface.

A quick question:

I need to grab a couple of 3 minute segments from a DVD and save them as high quality 720 x 480 mpeg2 computer videos. I have not figured out how to do this in a single pass. Currently, I have use DVD2SVCD to reduce entire DVD to one huge MPEG2 file. Edited the file to select the segment and create another MPEG2 video. Quite hairy for even the most capable dual processor PC and somewhat degrades final video. I have since found Decrypter and just reduce the chapter where the segment falls.

Question: Is there a way to use DVD2SVCD to accomplish this task? Is there a program which will properly rips only a segment by time to input to DVD2SVCD?

I plan to send some money as a PAYPAL donation to dvd2svcd@notrace.dk. What would be a fair donation? I think I read somewhere that PAYPALS shut down some accounts. Is this one of them?

The easiest way to grab the video/audio to use tmpg dvdauthor. Select the parts you want and save as mpeg. They have a 30 day free trial.

You can home in on exactly what you want by just ripping and encoding the chapter.Select the chapter(s) on the conversion tab (make sure you have ripping enabled).

If the section you want is not exactly a chapter, you can check "use frame selection". This will give you a preview screen after dvd2avi runs where you can select the frames you want and leave out the ones you don't.

Might have to do the segments one at a time though.
