Have done dozens of encodings without any problems...then this happens. Have done most of what the suggestions on this site suggested, and nothing seems to work. Am a pseudo-newbie and would like to have help with this particular encoding which freezes during different parts while encoding it. I have a athlon xp 3000, 1 gig ddr memory, 15 gig free on hard drive, and this is just the second time in countless good encodes that I have run into this problem and yes prime95 ran great. Here is my log file, so any help would not only be very welcome, but very appreciated.

And it freezes here...but at different frames........

This issue happens when you run out of memory or space. Especially if you have your swap file on the same drive you are encoding to. The problem stated below may apply to you.

From the FAQ:

Q14.3: CCE-SP 2.66/2.67/CCE-Basic leaks memory when encoding from an AVISynth script. How can I fix this?

Again, this happens only when the AVISynth script does not contain audio and seems to be a new bug in CCE-SP and CCE-Basic. When you are monitoring memory usage in task manager during encoding in these versions, you'll notice that for each file and for each encoding pass (be that one pass VBR, CBR or multipass VBR) the program grabs another large chunk of memory and never releases it until the program is closed. Depending on the number of files and passes, you can eventually run out of memory.

The fix for this again is to add a fake audio track to the AVISynth script as outlined in Q14.1, above.

tanx for the info...will try that out and see what happens...just strange that it happens once out of a hundred and at different points in the encode
