seeing mpg-files

I have a problem seeing mpg-files in wmplayer9.
First i could see them, but now not. I dont know what changed, but whatever i tried removing codecs etc, nothing helps.
Even de-installing and installing wmplayer again didn't give any result.
Can anybody help me.
I can see avi files.

Do you get an error when trying to play mpg files in media player?
Have you tried a different player?
What has changed recently on system for this to happen?

No I don't get an error when I play the mpg by wmplayer. Sometimes I have sound but no vision, sometimes the mpg does not start at all.
I a'm able to convert the mpg to avi, then I can see the avi, but that is not what I want.
The problem is that I don't know what exactly changed.
With the other viewers I have the same problem, by example BSPlayer.

What method do you use to convert to avi?
Also, have you installed FFDShow recently?

I had installed fddshow, but removed it. The program I use to convert: Maxdvd to Avi converter, or if I want to see the MPG I view the MPG by Quicktime Player, this program convert the MPG automiticly to AVI.

Try using the latest media player classic. It uses it's own mpeg-1 and mpeg-2 decoder so it should work. You can download it here (http://www.doom9.org/Soft21/Players/mpc2kxp6463.zip).

Your problem might be due to having uninstalled your dvd playing software. IIRC windows media player uses your software dvd player's dlls to playback mpeg-2. After you uninstall it windows media pleyr is no longer able to playback those files.

Yes, you are right, this version of the WMplayer plays the mpg.
How can i use the codec/decoder for WMPlayer9 so I can see those files there. Or how can I get the right files back or reinstall the software?

well if you uninstalled your dvd player reinstalling it should do the trick.

if that's not the case and you really must watch them in wmp9 (don't understand why, media player classic is much better) then try installing the fraunhofer video and audio codec which can be downloaded here (http://www.doom9.org/Soft21/Filters/freedvd.zip).
