Title: Fruits Basket NTSC DVDs [Anime Series]
Problem: Multiple angles in video title set causing chapter menu to not function properly. Ifoedit does not recognize the multiple angles when using the 'VOBextras' option.]
I did some searching on the forums here and found one other thread that sounded similar to my plight. The thread was about another anime dvd boxset with similar multiple angle authoring. Unfortunately, the advice that was given for this person's particular problem did not help me.
Splitting the DVD is easy. I use the tried and true method: opening the video title set I wish to split, using the VOBextras option to choose what chapter I would like to split the DVD at, and letting ifoedit do it's stuff. Correct the VTS sectors for the newly created VIDEO_TS.IFO and the respective VTS_.IFO just processed. I've done this a million times for lots of anime dvd's.
The DVD starts up fine. The root menu functions properly, and the portion of the titleset that I wanted on dvd1 is there. The only thing that is screwed up is the chapter menu interface, where you select your episode from. All the menu buttons: 'EPISODE 1, 2, 3, etc' are set to start a chapter ahead of where they were originally supposed to start. For example: I want to watch episode two. I select episode 2 from the chapter menu and it starts one chapter ahead of where episode 2 is supposed to start. I'll try to illustrate it here:

----EPISODE 2 BUTTON - Supposed to start up at Chapter 7, but instead starts up at Chapter 8.

I'd like to be able to select what angle I want to keep from the VOBextras option, but ifoedit doesn't seem to recognize the fact that they're present. The option is grayed out.
I decided to try and process the files through Smartripper, selecting the angle that I wanted. Btw, both angles seem identical, I have no idea what's different about them...perhaps something to do with the English or Japanese audio and subs...I'm not really sure.
At this point, I'm not exactly sure what I'm supposed to do. I've taken the processed files, and replaced the old, multi-angle files with them, then corrected the VTS sectors of the VIDEO_TS.IFO file and my titleset's ifo file. The dvd operates after that, but the chapter problem is still present. The chapter menu won't point to the correct chapter points...
I thought that maybe my method [ripping the angle I wanted with smartripper, then placing the processed files into the original dvd structure] might have been a bad method... so I studied the output text files from my smartripper rips of each angle, and found out what VOB's are used in each angle.
Angle 1 VOBs Used--
3,5,6,8,9,11,12,14,15,17,18,20,21,23,24,26,27,29,30,32,33,35,36,38,39,40,42,43,45,46,48,49,51,52,54,55,57,58,59

I took this info, and tried to split the original dvd files with ifoedit again, this time selecting only the vob's of the angle I wanted [btw, I tried both angles' respective VOB's]. Ifoedit processed the files correctly, and the dvd started up fine, but the chapter menu and it's corresponding chapter points were still screwed up.
At the very least, I could just live with messed up chapter menus... it's not THAT bad... it's just that this is an episode dvd set, and selecting the dvd episodes from the menus is kinda important, ya' know?

I'd like to be able to select what angle I want to keep from the VOBextras option, but ifoedit doesn't seem to recognize the fact that they're present. The option is grayed out.
I decided to try and process the files through Smartripper, selecting the angle that I wanted. Btw, both angles seem identical, I have no idea what's different about them...perhaps something to do with the English or Japanese audio and subs...I'm not really sure.
At this point, I'm not exactly sure what I'm supposed to do. I've taken the processed files, and replaced the old, multi-angle files with them, then corrected the VTS sectors of the VIDEO_TS.IFO file and my titleset's ifo file. The dvd operates after that, but the chapter problem is still present. The chapter menu won't point to the correct chapter points...
I thought that maybe my method [ripping the angle I wanted with smartripper, then placing the processed files into the original dvd structure] might have been a bad method... so I studied the output text files from my smartripper rips of each angle, and found out what VOB's are used in each angle.

I took this info, and tried to split the original dvd files with ifoedit again, this time selecting only the vob's of the angle I wanted [btw, I tried both angles' respective VOB's]. Ifoedit processed the files correctly, and the dvd started up fine, but the chapter menu and it's corresponding chapter points were still screwed up.
At the very least, I could just live with messed up chapter menus... it's not THAT bad... it's just that this is an episode dvd set, and selecting the dvd episodes from the menus is kinda important, ya' know?
