How to trim mpg without recompressing?

The title basically says it. Is there any way to trim / edit an mpg-1 file without having to recompress it? Any program that does it? A lot of music videos, for example, have junk at the beginning or the end.

u can use TMPEG in the tool part there is a way to split join file, i think it's the only solution. hope this help u :)

As i found u are the co-ordinator/Team Member of Doom9's newbie's Forum.This is a irrelavent question on concerning the video type is MPEG1.because there are plenty of softwares like VCD Cutter/Clipper!VCD @##@#$@$%$ etc .Thus U need only to download and u can trim VCDs,mpgs etc with out re-encoding it.There is an advantage on using VCD cutter as it outputs a perfect stream which can be easily parsed by Vdub/nandub etc.others did not(clippers).If u found the information useful send a private message.bye

I prefer to use MyFlix since it's a frame accurate editor.

You can also cut at any frame because it'll automatically render the first frame as I frame.

If you don't mind converting the MPEG-2 file into a PVA file, then you can cut it with PVACut 3.50. It cuts at GOPs (not frame accurate). Conversion to PVA and back to MPEG-2 can be done using PVAstrumento.
