How Does Ifoedit split multi pgc ifo files?

How is ifoedit supposed to split vts sets that have multiple pgc's?

For example, suppose there are 3 pgc's and each pgc has 10 programs
where each program has 1 cell.

How is ifoedit supposed to do split when I pick split point to be,
for example, program 6 of pgc 2.

Is ifoedit supposed to make disc 1 have all of pgc 1, programs
and programs 1 to 5 of pgc 2 and no programs in pgc 3 and make disc
2 have no programs in pgc 1, programs 6 to 10 in pgc 2, and all of
pgc 3?

I have never been able to use ifoedit to split a vts that had
more than 1 pgc and get any results that I could use.

Especially when you may be working on a DVD with episodes in one TitleSet. Your title should really say "Can Ifoedit..." instead of "How does IFOedit...". Then, your simple answer will be...no. :(

You figured the split correctly. IFOEdit does not split well in this case. Your better bet would be selective stripping using IFOEdit. In a very simple scenario, you strip out all the video VobIDs in PGC1 and some in PGC2 from the original DVD file set to create DISC 1. Repeat the process to strip out video VobIDs in PGC2 and PGC3 to make DISC 2. The good part here is that all the menus and extras are kept and the navigations intact, but you might need to tweak the PGC commands to make the discs working as intended. :p

Of course, there are some DVD structures that so complex or convoluted that does not split well at all. In those cases, its not worth it. :rolleyes:

It isn't impossible to split your DVD and there is a way of having certain cells replaced with blank cells. You gotta work for it though but at the end, you'll have a lot of pride on what you had accomplished.;)

I have found the resulting ifo file is sometimes missing the audio stream when VOB ID filtering is used. This happened on House of Love, a dvd with one titleset and 70 pgc's. I split the movie in half, and also extracted the extras in one giant titleset with many chapters. On the movie portions, the ifo file showed no audio streams even though they were present in the vob files (and of course, in the original ifo file). The solution: delete the ifo file and let ifoedit get a new ifo from the vobs alone. (Moral of the story: Always test your audio and subtitles after you do a vobs extra operation.)
