Strange problem burning Ritek DVDs with DVDDecrypter

Hi all, first thing i'm not really sure this is a DVDDecrypter fault because had same problem using nero. Strictly speaking yesterday i've tryed to burn 2 Ritek DVD without success, 1st time from a .pdi image using DVDDecrypter, after that & after converted .pdi->.iso i've used Nero (version 5) & wasted the 2nd DVD. I've also done many test before try to burn the second DVD and DVDDecrypter always hangs after reach 6% or so, it simply freezes everything (leds on HD & on my SONY DRU-500ax drive simply turn off) even when i try to abort the test process nothing happen i must reset & restart. More strange is that few minutes before waste the 1st Ritek i've succesfully burned a Fujii DVD-RW with the same .pdi image (with DVDDecrypter of course). Even stranger is that simulating burn with Nero was succesfull, but when i've tryed to burn for real even Nero freezes.

If possible I'd like some help to understand the problem before to format & reinstall my OS (WindowsXP SP1).

Should i try to enable Debug mode in DVDDecrypter (to produce log)wasting the 3rd DVD or may i just use debugging with test mode?

U see the delay between the last log line 19:55:03 & the following 19:57:32? during this time (and after the abort request) DVDDecrypter freeze. After forcing the task to close (from task manager invoked with ctrl-alt-del) everytime i start again DVDDecrypter it freeze whatever i could do, & the system don't reboot, i must reset manually.

Hope some1 could help in make it some more clear what happen...

Few words are better than no words at all, so thx, but i red that post before post this one (always i try to use search engine before post here, that's the reason i have not so many post).
Maybe i'm wrong but it seems to me that our problems are a little bit different here, ur process goes to the end but not mine, i cannot burn anymore (without wasting all Ritek dvd i buyed).
Again i had the same problem using nero so i'm not really sure this could be a dvd dec issue (could dvd dec compromise nero behaviour too?).

Do u think Could be a ritek-Sony DRU 500a issue?
Do u hear some noise coming from ur Sony before burn process freeze? (because here i hear some strange noises).

My mistake, sounds like a hardware error in your case. If at all possible, I would exchange the drive for another. The first 500a I had was bad, my new one works fine though. When I last called a few months ago, RMA for a Sony drive was along the lines of 10 weeks total processing time.

You should also always ensure you have the latest firmware on the drive.
I have 2.0f on my drive whilst you appear to only have 2.0c
The latter may have fixed issues burning these discs...who knows?!

This reminded me, any chance that the revised version of DVD Decrypter is coming out soon? No rush or anything, the current version is very good.

Was reading other posts in other forum about this problem. It seems that effectively there is something wrong between Sony DRU-500A & Ritek DVDs. It seems also that upgrading firmware to 2.0f and try burning Ritek at 1x in some cases could help.
I had a bad error trying to burn Ritek yesterday with Alcohol 120% (something about writing LBA error or so). I forgot to take the message to post here, i will do again today and i'll post here maybe some1 could help me in understand and this could be of help 4 some1 else.

I only have the Ritek G03 2x discs, but I never have a problem with them. I too have a Sony 500A with 2.0f firmware.

Cannot tell about G03 but i've done many many tests using ritek g04 & princo (white top 1x-4x). Also have spoken with lot of ppl in other forum just to check their experiences about the use of these media with Sony DRU-500A.
It seems (mixing what i've heard & my own experience) that the problem is between Sony & ritek g04 & also between Sony & princo (white top). I simple cannot use these media at any speed (1x, 2x, ...).
At the moment i'm forced to swith to use Verbatim, or Fujitsu or TDK media which are all much more expensive in my country, but i can burn them without any problem.
It's hard to me to believe that there are some substantial differences in building process between let's say a TDK or Verbatim & a Ritek or Princo, i could be completely wrong here but seems to me like Sony want to drive the buyer to use some specific media instead of others, & maybe (just my guess) DRU-500A could be instructed to burn some kind of DVD & to Waste some others into the firmware.
Anyway in my own case, if i want to burn some DVDs i'm forced to use Verbatim or Fujiitsu or TDK (& maybe Maxell but i've not tested it).

I've burned about 450 Ritek G03s with the Sony DRU 500A, and I recently got a batch of 100 where about 50% fail near the end. If I burn less than 4GB I never have a problem, but anything over that and the problem arises. It isn't decrypter or the drive; if I use the same file burned with Decrypter, I encounter the problem only with discs from the one batch and not with a second batch.

Now that I've figured it out, I can use the remaining discs for the instances (e.g. an hour of home movies or backups of MPEG files) where I am only burning less than 4 GB, but what an irritation! I bought the discs from Rimacom, but I want to emphasize that one of the two sets of 100 I bought from them seem fine and there is nothing obviously amiss with either of the packs. The other 400 I've used came from Supermediastore.
