Misc tab in Dvd2svcd

ok i am really new to making svcds from avi and i have never done one yet. i posted before and i guess i broke a rule but i just didnt see this question anywhere have being asked before. im following someone's guide and when i go to check the convert divx3 to div4 box in the misc tab of dvd2svcd in avi2svcd mode, it is grayed out so that i cant. the message from someone said that the file might not be read/write, but i am so new that i have no clue how to even know if it is read/write or how to make it read/write if it already isnt. please let me know if you can help, i just want to complete one so i can see what i need to work on for the next....thanks a lot.

I did some checking on this last night but since I haven't done any AVI2SVCD conversions, I thought you'd get better help from another member, but fly in the semi-darkness with me a little tonight. :) Find the file you want to convert, right click it, and select "Properties" from the bottom of that complex box. Look at the "Attributes" options in the bottom of the Properties dialogue box. If the "read only" checkbox is checked, deselect it.

Certain grayed out options could be caused by not having the DVD2SVCD level set to "Advanced" under the Miscellaneous tab, but I don't know if this applies to your problem.

You can double check the grayed out options by going over this thread. (http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?s=&threadid=22197&highlight=grayed+out/) If any of this helps, let us know, if not, post on your results and we'll try to scrounge up some better help. Search, read, test, post, and repeat until you go cross-eyed. :) It's the only way to fly! It's also a good idea to search out the User Control Panel and learn to use it.
