Well, this is a new one for me. I see that this question comes up every once in a while, but not seeing much help on it. Thought I'd ask again. Here's the summary for this title set. Also, it needs to remain part of the whole; as I'm trying to squeeze this and everything else down to a DVD5. Here goes:

PGC_1 (program chain): [Title(TTN): 1] [01:42:16.23 / 30 fps] (Programs: 32)
(Cells: 35)
(uses VOB-IDs: 3,1,4)
[Ch 01] [Pg 01] [Cell 01] [V/C Id: 3/ 1] : time: 00:00:10.00 / 30 fps
[Cell 02] [V/C Id: 1/ 1] Layer Br.: time: 00:02:03.10 / 30 fps
[Ch 02] [Pg 02] [Cell 03] [V/C Id: 1/ 2] : time: 00:03:33.15 / 30 fps

[Ch 02] [Pg 02] [Cell 02] [V/C Id: 2/ 1] Layer Br.: time: 00:00:00.15 / 30 fps

I need most of PGC_1 gone, for space reasons.

I need PGC_2 to remain intact, but as you can see, it's sharing content with PGC_1 via VOB/Cell ID: 1/2.

What do you guys think?

Updated and trimmed up the code a little bit, so not so much horizontal scrolling... :)

Hey dude,

..., it's sharing content with PGC_1 via VOB/Cell ID: 2/1.

I think it's actually sharing content with PGC_1 via VOB/Cell ID: 1/2. As PGC_2 shows:
PGC_2 (program chain): [Title(TTN): 2] [00:03:34.00 / 30 fps] (Programs: 2) (Cells: 2)(uses VOB-IDs: 1,2)
[Ch 01] [Pg 01] [Cell 01] [V/C Id: 1/ 2] : time: 00:03:33.15 / 30 fps <-- This one??
[Ch 02] [Pg 02] [Cell 02] [V/C Id: 2/ 1] Layer Br.: time: 00:00:00.15 / 30 fps

I know how to strip vob id # 3 & 4 without causing problem (I think u should leave vob # 2 alone). But don't know how to trim part of vob id # 1. I would love to know how can this be done too.

Chowskie...

You're right, I flipped them. Fixed it... :)

Well, I got pretty close on this just fooling around a bit, but I'd like to see what the experts have to say.

Something with VobEdit, maybe...but I'm not too familiar with the tool...

If you rip PGC2 with DVDDecrypter in IFO mode won't you get both Cell01 and Cell02 in the same VOB file?
If you just wanna keep PGC2 recreate the IFOs and it should work.
If you need also part of PGC1, rip it with DVDDecrypter in IFO mode selecting the cells you want, and the follow this guide (http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?s=&threadid=58282) to join the PGCs and recreate correct IFOs. Let me know if this works for you :)

Dave82...

I haven't messed with that IFO mode in DVD Decrypter. That's cool.

What I had done, is Reauthor Title 2 with DVD Shrink, then copied the VOB back into the work directory and fixed it up with IFOEdit.

Didn't realize you could do the same (and get even more granular!) with DVD Decrypter. Went ahead and gave that a try:

EXECUTION - EXTRAS (DVD-R #2)

Stage 1
-------
. Mount ISO, copy to work folder
. Backup

Stage 2
-------
DVD Decrypter v3.1.6.0
. Mode | IFO
. Decrypt VTS_01, PGC 2
... writes VTS_01.VOB: 4+GB reduced to 143MB
... writes VTS_01.IFO: same as original
. Copy VTS_01.VOB into Stage 1 directory
. Backup

Stage 3
-------
. VOB-ID strip of VOB-ID(s) 3-4 for Titles(s) 1 / TTN_ 1 / VTS_01*
. Backup

After Stage 3, I got this (trimmed up a bit):

PGC_1 (program chain): [Title(TTN): 1] [00:03:33.15 / 30 fps] (Programs: 1)
(Cells: 1)
(uses VOB-IDs: 1)
[Ch 01] [Pg 01] [Cell 01] [V/C Id: 1/ 2] : time: 00:03:33.15 / 30 fps

PGC_2 (program chain): [Title(TTN): 2] [00:03:34.00 / 30 fps] (Programs: 2)
(Cells: 2)
(uses VOB-IDs: 1,2)
[Ch 01] [Pg 01] [Cell 01] [V/C Id: 1/ 2] : time: 00:03:33.15 / 30 fps
[Ch 02] [Pg 02] [Cell 02] [V/C Id: 2/ 1] : time: 00:00:00.15 / 30 fps

Then, I did this:

Stage 4
-------
. Adjust/Zero PGC_(s) 1 Playback Time, streams, sectors, etc. (VTS_01*)
. Correct Chapter Counts for above work
. Get VTS sectors
. Verify in DVD Shrink -> Yes
. Verify in InstantCopy -> Yes
. Backup

DVD-R #2 DONE.

These final edits of the .IFO gave me this:

PGC_1 (program chain): [Title(TTN): 1] [00:00:00.12 / 25 fps] (Programs: 1)
(Cells: 1)
(uses VOB-IDs: 1)
[Ch 01] [Pg 01] [Cell 01] [V/C Id: 1/ 2] : time: 00:00:00.12 / 25 fps

PGC_2 (program chain): [Title(TTN): 2] [00:03:34.00 / 30 fps] (Programs: 2)
(Cells: 2)
(uses VOB-IDs: 1,2)
[Ch 01] [Pg 01] [Cell 01] [V/C Id: 1/ 2] : time: 00:03:33.15 / 30 fps
[Ch 02] [Pg 02] [Cell 02] [V/C Id: 2/ 1] : time: 00:00:00.15 / 30 fps

Which is perfect and good enough for my needs.

Thanks. I'll have to keep your post in mind for rebuilding PGCs if necessary. Cool...

Good work! Unique scenarios call for unique techniques and I'll keep this thread in mind too, in case I run into a similar situation in the future. Helping others to help others. That's what makes this a great community!:D
