I read if u want to play your divx(avis) on a different pc,all u have to do is install a divx, audio codec and it should be allright. So i installed the gordian knot codec pack, with the ac3 encoder,5.0.2 divx codec,mpla...mpla.When i used the win media player to play,it was all upside down. All other ok.I used power dvd as well with the same results. My dvds play normally on power dvd. So,i guess sth is wrong with the codec.Any suggestions?Cause i can't find what's wrong

Hi-
So,i guess sth is wrong with the codec.
You said only this one is upside down, and all the rest are OK, right? More likely something's wrong with the .avi, unusual resolution or something. To fix it, you can install and use ffdshow (http://www.doom9.org/Soft21/Filters/ffdshow-20021213.exe) for your decoding. Then in the configuration panel you can go Miscellaneous-Flip Video. That will make it right side up again.

I have this problem all of a sudden too, and can't quite figure out why it is so. Some of my DivX files encoded with GKnot are fine but others are flipped over.
I have heard that FFDshow can provide a solution but am not quite sure what it does -- it installs with GKnot, doesn't it, so do I need to reinstall it or something. Does it fix playback or do I have to reencode? How would I know which Projects to flip over, as it seems that not all DivX files end up upside down.
Anyway, I found this piece of software (called DivXG400)which has the option to flip the DivX upon playback, so there's no need for encoding all over again. It also gives subtitle functionality to Windows media player so that's another reason to install it.

Hi-
If it's installed, you can find it in Start-Programs-ffdshow. In the codecs portion of the configuration panel, you can set it to decode whichever codecs you wish. If your.avi is encoded in one of those codecs, then Miscellaneous-Flip Video will fix your upside down videos (and also make the right side up ones upside down). It's just a decoding/playback filter. It's not doing anything to the .avis themselves. No reencoding is necessary.
As for why some of your .avis play upside down, and not others; did you by chance change the W and H Moduls in the Resolution Tab of GKnot from their default 32 and 16?

Hi Monono :)

No, I have not altered these at all. So far I have 3 upside down files (that I know of). Two of these were my own short films edited in Adobe Premiere and exported/encoded using the 'Microsoft avi' codec, and then loaded into Gknot for DivX conversion. The third one is the extra material from the 'Clerks' DVD.
Other DVD's have encoded just fine, though.
