I've got some captures that I accidentally had set to only 8 bit stereo. They ended up having some hiss behind it.
I'm trying to use Cool Edit Pro 2.1 and the hiss reduction effect to remove it. When I go in and I'm in the hiss reduction window and I set things to my liking and preview it sounds great. Removed the hiss perfectly. I then simply click OK and it goes through it's process saying "Removing Hiss".
Once that's done however and I play my .wav again it sounds just like it did before. And of course when I save it this way it still has the hiss.
Howcome it's not making it's change like it says it is? Again, it sounds great when I preview in the hiss reduction window...but when I accept changes and play again it doesn't sound like the preview at all.
Any info would be great. Thanks!
