can I ask you guys if you would like to have the option of a VIDEO_TS folder and also why?
personally I want it mainly so I can burn with any burning software but I also want to be able to modify the files afterwards without having to extract them
cheers

I agree, for the same reasons. Although the burn engine in IC works fine for me, I'd like the flexibility of having real, live DVD files.

another reason for having a VIDEO_TS ouput would also give me the option of leaving the files on my Hard Drive (larger capacity drives are now popular) as part my collection so I can play them whenever I want with the likes of PowerDVD just by using the IFO instead of having to remount or extract each individual one every time
I may not even want to burn the backup in the first place and just store it on my PC instead

Agree.
Hey, MackemX, when you get a chance, take a look at the comments I posted in this thread I recently bumped:
Regarding Procedure #7 (http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?s=&threadid=49580)
Thanks...

Agree. We need more control.

Agreed, a prog like this with so many options should already have one. So come on Pinnacle pull your finger out! :)

yes i would like this as it would make the whole program even more flexible.
of course in an ideal world it would do ISO's too

I agree, for the same reasons.
It's also better to teste it with VIDEO_TS folder.

yep I agree, another example of the inconvience it causes is you cannot test the DVD before burning when it is in PDI format resulting in a costly coaster if it doesn't work
to check it you have to mount the image to get to the files and test it, which is just creating more work
you can save directly to InstantDrive but some people may not wish to install InstantDrive due to having other dedicated image mounting tools for certain reasons and therefore they will have to manually extract the files or use another PDI mounting tool to access the files

I could live with a PDI (no VIDEO_TS folder) if they could get the size right repeatedly.

I'd like the VIDEO_TS option, so I can tweak the IFO's to switch on my subtitles of choise by default before burning. I have to go the pdi->pditools->VIDEO_TS way now, which is just a waste of time i.m.h.o.

agreed! i go with MackemX on this.
virtual drive or not, you still need to copy the files elsewhere to do any postprocessing, which is a waste of space. Besides, there are only 26 drive letters, and i dont intend to add more and more virtuall drive drivers to my system. (Nero, CloneCD, Alcohol, IC just to mention a few) I'm currently only running DaemonTools, and call me stubborn, but what i cant mount with daemon tools, i dont like (and now dont point me to mounting pdi via mds, if you ever tried it with daemon tools you'd know it doesnt work!)
So as said, i want full read/write access to the files IC produces, something the virtuall drive, or mounting by any means, just doesnt offer!

Yes, more control would be nice.
I had a lot of trouble with copys where no VIDEO_TS.VOB was generated. Every time i had to look in the pdi (PDIControl) and tryed to fix the problem. So many times that it was such a pain in the neck. An Image in a virtual drive, couldn't solve the problem.

Agreed M8, I too am sick of all the "virtual drives" on every type of soft these days. Man I'm forgetting which one is which when I open up My Computer ?!? :p
It is Not the answer Pinnacle, how hard is output of files to a folder or for it to create a VIDEO_TS folder itself anyways??? Come on, must do better!

Sweet job guys. That is a great feature to have. I love this program. Ya it has some problems, but generally the quality is far better than anything else out there. Can't wait for the new feature.

If Pinnacle really implements this feature we all asking for in the coming future, it will be even sweeter if IC can decrypt DVD movie like DVD Shrink straight from DVD drive to HD. :D
