I'm having major probs with the latest version of TMPG..prior to my upgrade to version 2.59 I had no probs decoding wmv's...now sometimes it works and sometimes just freezing the prog. I could almost accept this as being a corrupt wmv except the same file decodes with no probs on my laptop with an older version of the prog..so I format my drive and reinstall XP and use the older version of TMPG...but the probs persist on my desktop! I have searched all over the forums and tried a bunch of "solutions" with no luck...maybe someone can give me some more ideas...so far I have..

1.Set my system back to stock speeds and verified I'm not overheating
2.Relaxed the timings on my system memory
3.Change the virtual memory settings
4.Changed the priority of the plug ins
and a few other things that I cant remember...
These are my vital systems specs everything else is average...
2.4 Ghz PIV on a 845PE motherboard
512 megs Corsair XMS ram running at 333 MhZ
80 gig harddrive

All help will be appreciated
Thanks

TMPGEnc Plus (a version or two back) was occasionally freezing on my P4 2.4GHz, XP Pro box when working with large AVI files. I upgraded DirectX from 8 to 9 and have not had any problems since then.

I think I solved my prob!! I use ASFTools 3.1 and Windows Media Encoder 7.1 to re encode my files and TMPGenc seems to have no problems with the results!! It would seem that TMPGenc has a slight problem decoding WMV2 coded files...at least that seems to the solution to my problem... :) :) Does anyone know of a down side to this?

Yes, you end up with a reencoded file and loses quality.
