Sorry if this post is posted in the wrong area but my biggest problem has to do with burning so, here goes.
Ok well I am trying to backup Gangs Of New York. It was the first time I have used any of these tools except for DVD Shrink so it was pretty hit and miss. Here’s what I did:
1. Rip disc 1 & 2 (movie only) using DVD Decrypter 3.1.6.0 in IFO mode
2. Join vobs using VobEdit 0.6. This turned out to be quite tricky. Everyone says just join clips with VobEdit and then they link to http://ifoedit.wh.fr0zen.com/joinclip.html Which, unless I am mistaken just does not work (getting to the site that is). Upon searching the forum some more I came upon this thread which proved very helpful especially Gparent’s Post. http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?threadid=54655&perpage=20&highlight=combine%20disc&pagenumber=2
3. Ok, now that I have 9 VOB’s that are supposedly joined I go to IfoEdit 0.95. (This part was fun I could not find a decent guide so I was pushing buttons randomly hoping that it would turn out) Anyways everyone says to build new IFO’s so thank god there was a create IFO Button. Seemed to work.
4. Now the post says to Restream using IfoEdit. Restream?? There is no Restream button… I searched all over the forum and internet for instructions for this one but came up empty. What I ended up doing was using Movie Only -> Strip Stream with the default setting. This, for the most part, seemed to do what was intended: make 7 1gig Vob’s plus 1 VOB that is smaller, instead of having 9 total VOBs (7 1 gig files and 2 that are less than 1 gig). If anyone can explain how to do this correctly using IfoEdit or point me in the right direction I would greatly appreciate it.
5. Now I used DVDShrink 2.3 to make it fit on one disc. (BTW which IFO should be loaded VIDEO_TS.IFO or VTS_01_0.IFO) Anyways it finished analyzing SUCSESS! (tried using dvdshirnk before restreaming and it didn’t work) Ok I think I am home free… Compress to Level 8 or 9 (It is a huge movie! Had to take out everything but the first audio stream) and Back up.
6. Now for the Disaster… Usually I just add the VIDEO_TS and AUDIO_TS folders to a blank data dvd job and burn away. Not so fast… I am using Veritas RecordNow DX which came with my burner (sony dru-510) I know that it is not nero but hey, it has worked up till now and it was free. So I add the folders and hit the big red circle but it stops immediately and says “Data Job Untitled 1 Terminated with Errors.” It didn’t even try to work, It just stopped. (at least I didn’t lose a dvd+r in the process) (As a sided note I think this is very odd, I am setting it up as a data DVD nothing special just burn these files and folders, but it won’t do it.) Please shed some light if you can…
7. Ok well when I was reading the DVD Shrink Guide it said to use ImgTool to make an ISO then burn, so I figure I will give it a shot. Use ImgTool Classic 9.0 and create an ISO
8. Load the image into RecordNow DX and Star to burn…Success!…
9. Test The DVD with WinDVD…Success!…
10. Feeling Pretty good about myself right about now…Put it in my Sony DVD player…DOH! The Display on the DVD Player says T1. On my other Sony player the display says Title 1. Press play…nothing, can’t do anything but look at the Sony Splash Screens.
